Description

scapple: to work or shape roughly, without smoothing to a finish.
- The Chambers Dictionary

ROUGH IT OUT
Ever scribbled ideas on a piece of paper and drawn lines between related thoughts? Then you already know what Scapple does. It's a virtual sheet of paper that lets you make notes anywhere and connect them using lines or arrows.

MAKE CONNECTIONS
Join up your thinking however you want. Scapple doesn't force you to make connections—every note is equal, so it's up to you which notes have connections and which don't. You have complete freedom to experiment with how your ideas fit together.

IT’S SCAPPLE SIMPLE
Creating notes is as easy as double-clicking anywhere on the page; making connections between ideas is as simple as dragging and dropping one note onto another. And unlike real paper, in Scapple you can move notes around and never run out of space.

FEATURES
• Simple—and fun!—to use
• Write notes anywhere
• Connect notes using drag and drop
• Move and arrange notes easily
• Stack notes in columns of related ideas
• Label connections
• Create background shapes to group notes
• Customise the appearance of notes
• MathType support
• iCloud syncing
• Full screen mode
• Export to popular formats or print your ideas
• Easily drag notes into Scrivener for further development

Just missing one important feature

For quickly capturing and manipulating a simple graph of connected ideas this is almost perfect. I was very pleased until I tried to style a connecting line, and found that I couldn’t. A check of the user forums revealed someone else with the same feature request, being told by a developer that the goal was to “reproduce a quick whiteboard session, not produce a polished final presentation”. But it doesn’t quite reproduce the functionality you’d get with a whiteboard and a few different coloured pens. Add this feature and I’ll be happy to rate this app 5 stars.

Apart from this, it’s extremely easy and quick to use for capturing ideas and concepts in a rapid flurry. Use it for jotting down notes, not for crafting presentation quality graphs.

Great Program!

I recently bought Scapple to accompany Scrivener 3 and I am SO glad I did! I recently wrote an article on Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) with the assistance of notes I took in Scapple and it gave me so much more perspective on what I was writing. I love its compatibility with Scrivener and how everything stays in sync! Definitely worth the buy.

One Star to draw Literature & Latte’s attention!!! Is this software dying?

There has been NO update since late 2014. Though it can run on El Capitan, I’m a bit worry the compatibility with Sierra. I’d like to see an iOS version too but am I realistic ? because there is no more enhancement for 2 years, no bug fix (if any) for 2 years!
Is this software dying? If not, please enhance it, say, sub-files, multiple desktops, multiple whiteboards, templates etc. Or, at least, keep it alive in macOS Sierra! Love it, in fact!
