School Assistant by Sun Apps is a simple but powerful school planner app. It allows you to quickly and easily keep track of homework, tests, and your schedule, scan documents, see and save Google Classroom assignments, quickly access saved websites, and more.
First, as a student myself, I fully believe it is wrong to charge students money for trying to succeed in school. So, School Assistant is completely free! No premium subscriptions, no paywalls, and no ads. If you like the app, it would be amazing if you considered donating through the Tip Jar in Settings (this is why the App Store shows that there are In-App Purchases).
Designed for Mac:
School Assistant uses the Mac toolbar, sidebar, Menu Bar, and more for the best Mac experience!
Schoolwork:
- Manage your upcoming assignments and tests
- Sort by due date, class, category, alphabetically, or manually
- Add a related class, due date, submission location and link, and notes
- Schedule reminders
- Highlight upcoming and overdue schoolwork
- Keep an entire archive of your completed schoolwork
- View how many assignments/tests you have right from your Desktop with Widgets
Schedule:

Version 3.3
I’m thrilled to say that my most-requested feature is finally here: Completed Schoolwork! Now, when you mark a Schoolwork as completed, it will move to Completed Schoolwork. There, you can view a full archive of every Schoolwork you’ve completed (since the update). Want to put something back? It’s just one tap to return it to Schoolwork. But, there’s a lot more than Completed Schoolwork!
- Widgets can now take on the theme color that you set for School Assistant, making them much more colorful and fun!
- iPad and Mac now have keyboard shortcuts, such as ⌘+ to add a new Schoolwork or Schedule Entry
- Set the app’s icon badge to show the number of Schoolwork, Assignments, or Tests remaining
- All-new, custom-made sound effects
- Compiled for the latest software versions
Version 3.3 also includes many bug fixes:
- More Details in Schoolwork will no longer change the entry it’s showing when you edit certain details
- The Class selector can now show multi-line titles
- You can now Complete and Delete a Schoolwork while searching

Ratings and Reviews
Amazing features but.. (developers please read this)
Considering the features, this is one of the best apps out there for students. It has all the right functions that you actually need, and isn’t overloaded with information or lacking information. I love how you can customise the app’s icon and theme (helps with my aesthetic-ish phone)
HOWEVER
There’s a critical bug that need to be fixed. I was putting my timetable in, but then it kept crashing as soon as I tap on day 4. I’ve tried it on my iPad Pro with the same results, and even deleted and reinstalled the app. A few days after that, it wouldn’t even let me into the app (it kept crashing as soon as I opened it). It happened to my iPad too. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPad Pro (10.5 in), both on the latest iOS, could you PLEASE fix this?? I honestly can’t find an app with features as perfect as this 🥲

The best School Planner app on the App Store!
This has got to be the best app for school planning in the App Store by far! There is not many other apps in the App Store that have the same features as this one, if so they are locked down my in-app purchases. Literally one app had a $100 dollar price tag to actually use the good features, so when I saw that this app in ‘The Apps We Love Right Now’ I was expecting to see the common ‘Pay for our premium subscription!’ Box that is present in almost every other app there is, but no! I opened it to see that the app had no in app purchases. Which I was actually genuinely surprised about.
In Summary, an essential app that any student needs for school, don’t even take notice of the other ‘bad’ reviews (literally one I saw was complimenting the app but had a 1 star???). Anyway I will definitely be recommending this to others. I definitely think this app should have a price tag on it.

Part of my promise is to be free, completely free, and forever free, and for that very reason. So many school apps want to charge so much money for necessary features, which I find wrong considering they’re apps for students, who often don’t have much money to pay for such things.

Amazing App
Overall this app is just amazing. It is easy to use and very good for planning your everyday school life. It has many features that allow you to do many things. I definitely recommend using this app.
