SkyForge
Live weather radar & forecast
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
SkyForge makes the weather radar the whole app — a full-screen, buttery-smooth animated map is your home screen, and everything else floats cleanly on top.
RADAR THAT MOVES
• Smooth, motion-interpolated radar: the past two hours, then up to an hour of forecast radar where it's available
• 3D storms — heavy rain rises off the map as shaded clouds that cast shadows
• Live wind streams — thousands of moving particles showing direction and speed
• Temperature overlay with a color-graded legend
• Show precipitation, temperature and wind together
• Fronts & pressure from NOAA's surface analysis
• Zoom out far enough and the map becomes a spinning 3D globe, colored with NASA satellite land cover
A FORECAST WITH DEPTH
• 10-day forecast — tap any day to expand a plain-English brief
• Interactive charts for every day: temperature, precipitation, UV, wind, humidity, visibility, and pressure — drag to pinpoint any minute
• Hourly forecast, current conditions, "feels like", and high/low
• Air quality (US AQI), UV index, sunrise & sunset, dew point, and more
BUILT FOR WHERE YOU ARE
• Automatic radar and forecast for your current location
• Save cities and reorder your list with a long-press
• Dark and light map themes that remember your choice
SEVERE WEATHER
• Live watches, warnings, and advisories from the US National Weather Service, right at the top of your screen when they matter
HONEST BY DESIGN
• 100% free and ad-free
• No account, no sign-up, no tracking
• Your location is used only to fetch weather — never stored or sold
Weather data from Open-Meteo, LibreWXR, RainViewer, NOAA / National Weather Service, NASA GIBS, Iowa State Mesonet, and OpenWeatherMap.
Ratings & Reviews

HOME, AND NOTIFICATIONS YOU CHOOSE
• Set a Home: tap the house next to any place. Your widgets always show Home, wherever you look in the app.
• Rain starting: a notification up to an hour before rain or snow reaches Home.
• Lightning nearby: a notification when lightning strikes within 10 miles of Home (in the Americas).
• Morning forecast: today's weather for Home, every day at the time you choose.
• All three are off until you turn them on, and rain and lightning stay quiet from 10 PM to 7 AM.
SATELLITE, CLOUDS, LIGHTNING, SMOKE AND SNOW
• Satellite: live clouds from NOAA's GOES satellites every 5 minutes over the US, and across the Americas and the Pacific — tap anywhere for how high and cold the cloud tops are.
• Cloud forecast: how cloudy the sky will be over the next two days, from NOAA's GFS model.
• Lightning: strikes across the Americas every 15 minutes, playing along with the radar, and whether there is lightning within 30 miles of you.
• Smoke, air quality and wildfires: the EPA's Air Quality Index, NOAA's wildfire-smoke forecast, and US wildfires with their size and containment.
• Snow depth: how much snow is on the ground across the US, from NOAA's snow analysis.
HURRICANES, SEVERE STORMS, RAIN AND MOISTURE — FROM NOAA
• Hurricanes: the National Hurricane Center's cone, forecast track and coastal warnings, with a card for each storm — winds, pressure, movement and when the next advisory comes.
• Severe outlook: the Storm Prediction Center's risk areas for today and the next two days, the chance of a tornado, damaging wind or large hail where you are, active watches and today's storm reports.
• Rainfall history: how much rain actually fell over the last day, week, month or year, and how that compares with normal (US).
• Moisture rivers: the atmospheric rivers that carry moisture out of the tropics, flowing across the map, from NOAA's GFS model.
SMOOTHER RADAR
• Zoom and pan while the radar plays: no blank patches and no restart — the loop keeps going while sharper detail loads.
• Smoother storm edges and motion.
SHARPER FORECASTS
• In the US, forecasts past the next few hours now come from NOAA's National Blend of Models — in our tests at 13 US airports it cut the error in tomorrow's temperatures by about 30%.
• When a weather station is close by, the current temperature is its latest reading, and the station is named under the hourly forecast.
• Rain and snow amounts: the next 24 hours' total, snow totals in the 10-day forecast, and expected amounts in each day's summary.
RAIN IN THE NEXT HOUR
When rain is close, the forecast panel tells you when it starts or stops — "Rain starting in about 20 min" — from the radar's one-hour forecast.
A CLEANER, SHARPER LOOK
• New weather icons, drawn for SkyForge, with a moon and stars at night.
• Frosted-glass panels: the map softens behind them instead of showing through the text.
• "Now" always matches the current conditions, and chances of rain are shown only when they matter, rounded like the National Weather Service does.
• Sunrise and sunset appear in the hourly forecast.
• When the radar shows rain over you, the current conditions say so.
• Pressure is shown at sea level, with a rising/falling trend; wind shows its direction.
AROUND THE APP
• The map shows Gulf of America and Lake America for users in the US.
• Better VoiceOver descriptions and subtle haptic feedback.
