Smiling Mind is a FREE mindfulness meditation app developed by psychologists and educators to help bring balance to your life. Just as we eat well and stay fit to keep our body healthy, mindfulness meditation is about mental health and looking after the mind. Our programs are designed to assist people in dealing with the pressure, stress, and challenges of daily life.
Smiling Mind has dedicated sleep programs for Adults, Kids & Teens. Use these when winding down at night to assist with both getting to sleep and improving overall sleep quality.
Listen to meditations as guided by smooth and calming voices. Smiling Mind includes a number of meditations in Indigenous Australian languages (Kriol, Ngaanyatjarra & Pitjantjatjara).

Smiling Mind is great
When opening the app for the first time I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and colours, as it was visually appealing to the eye and I found it easy to use. With an age range from 7- Adult there are different activities and meditations available for everyone to do at different stages of there lives. The app has refreshed my mindfulness, I used the sleep: starry night which helped me have a good sleep and I was left feeling rejuvenated. Smiling mind is a great app as it's mediations start from 1 minute and there are meditations for everyone to do even if only for a minute. I found the shorter ones quick and helpful in checking my breathing. Not only does it have meditation but also activities which allow you to use things such as food, which is a great way to enhance mindfulness overall. I highly recommend smiling mind to anyone, as it has a range of meditation activities suited to everyone definitely give it a go.

I don’t think Smiling Mind gets the recognition it deserves. There’s a lot of meditation apps out there and they definitely set out to achieve the same results, but I have a great deal of respect for what Smiling Mind stand for - the app is always free and they never try to charge you an insane amount of money to subscribe or progress through the programs. Donate if you wish to support them, but it’s never something they request, nor do they send pop ups to ‘rate the app’. They actually want to raise awareness and aid in the rollout of mindfulness programs in Australian schools, where kids can learn the benefits before reaching adulthood. In this day and age, that’s such a fantastic initiative!
While there may be a few minor things that could be improved, I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now and find it very easy to navigate. You can pick and choose your own programs that you find relevant and progress through them at your own pace and in any order you decide. Kudos to these guys and what they’ve done and are setting out to achieve. I hope they get the support they deserve!
Smiling Mind Review
The smiling mind app was very pleasant and easy to use. After trying out the free app for a couple of weeks I have found it to be very relaxing and upon finishing a session I felt happier and more alert. The app offered a variety of short and extended, creative exercises that changed to suit the appropriate age groups which ranged from 7 year olds to adults. The app also had sessions for different situations such as ‘taking public transport’ or ‘taking flight’ which I thought was an excellent way for people with anxiety to become more comfortable in moments of stress. The app was very easy to use and didn’t require much time to start and finish a meditation session making it easy to practice mindfulness at any point of the day. Overall I think the app is excellent and really helped me become less stressed after participating in a meditation session in the morning allowing me to be more focused and ready for the day head. The smiling mind app may not be for everyone but I would definitely recommend trying it.
