Ratings and Reviews
Capable but user unfriendly
StayInFront Touch is extremely feature rich and highly customisable per client and project. It really tries and in most cases succeeds at being an all-in-one solution. I have been impressed by the level of back end integration with my organisation’s intranet and myriad connected services.
Where the platform falls short begins to become apparent in daily field use of the mobile apps. To give you a flavour for the frustrations seen everyday by myself and my team, I’ve handpicked a few:
The iOS app for instance feels like a website that’s been wrapped in an app. Response to button taps is slow, percentages of loading progress from on-screen indications is inaccurate to the point of being completely useless, and a lack of resilience to varying network conditions often makes even accessing offline data impossible if the server or an Internet connection is unavailable. The app also sometimes fails to respond if the device has gone to sleep, requiring that I exit my visit and reopen it from the calendar in order to continue navigating tasks.
The interface itself would benefit from some UX tweaks too. The apps are littered with extraneous options and poorly placed buttons. For example, the button to collapse the sidebar is closer to the current task viewing area than the sidebar, and the button to return to the last task view is closer to the sidebar. My colleagues and I are always reaching for the wrong button as what is logical in most other apps is not the same here.
Worse still is an inexplicable issue where a scroll gesture (swipe with one finger) fails to register unless the beginning of the gesture was in a particular part of the scrollable area, often requiring many attempts simply to move through the list of tasks. A bug that every one of my team has encountered, and yet it was possible for it to make it into a production version of the app.
Another frustration that implies a level of care taken by the developers is that the iPhone version of the app is formatted for no iPhones newer than iPhone 5s, meaning users of iPhone 6 or later will not be fully utilising the size of their display and fumbling with an oversized keyboard with buttons in a different position to every other app they’re used to. For reference, iPhone 6 was released in 2014.
Mr.
Very insufficient app.
Waste time starting app many times as photos will continuously close app. You will then need to reopen app only find shift unable to complete. Please update with fix.
