SureText is a secure messaging app for clinicians in Australia. Conversations between clinicians frequently occur via text messages to make referrals, send patient information like photos and discuss treatment plans, which are all protected clinical information governed by Australian regulations. SureText enables compliance with these regulations with the following features.
- end-to-end message encryption to protect patient information.
- automatic daily archiving of all message content to the user's work email (by encrypted transmission) to enable record keeping
- secure in-app camera function and photo repository separate from native 'Camera' and 'Photos' app i.e. no inadvertent sending or display of clinical photographs
- obtain digital patient consent for clinical photography
- save clinical photographs to own account to be archived in work email for future reference
- ability to toggle 'offline' or 'online' to protect clinicians' time and let colleagues know when not on duty
- 'read' receipts for messages so clinicians sending them are not left guessing
- removal of patient information from the app automatically every week to further minimise risk of significant data breaches
