Suspects: Mobile Detective 17+

I remember playing Last Seen Online before when it was a separate app and I remember being blown away by the execution. Just a word of advice though if you try this app: You’d be wise to save upwards of 1200 for an 800 coin story 😀

The new pricing model saddens me a bit. We have to unlock stories by coins, which is okay, but after we unlock the story, we have to unlock chats for other characters (mostly several of the secondary characters). So I thought, okay, disappointing since I thought I could unlock everything, but fair enough. But then I’ve discovered that with the chats that are already unlocked for free, you have to pay coins for EACH chat bubble for the person the main character is talking to.

I have to be wise about where to spend my coins in the chat, but I think at this point I will have to accept that I can’t read everything. Some chats aren’t super essential though, so we can sort of get away with it 😁

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed the stories in this app, and there are daily coins given for free, which helps unlock parts of the story. I just wish we knew how much upfront cost is needed so I can save all my coins before starting a story.

The app plays up worse than any app I’ve ever had. You try to click on things and nothing happens, over and over again, it freezes often, it uses tons of battery, the ‘new messages’ fail to go to the top and messages often come through in the wrong order.

The stories and format are not worth all the ad watching either. You need 10+ ads worth of ‘coins’ to unlock conversations (usually at least half), and coins to unlock calls, emails, photos. Then you also regularly need 10 ads worth of coins to advance the story.

The format of waiting for new content (eg messages) to come through becomes infuriating. You wait 30 seconds between messages in ongoing conversations, then suddenly you have to wait an odd amount of time for another message like 8 or 20 minutes, and way too often you have to wait hours for something new. Some stories are good but usually it’s a really drawn out story waiting ages for what ends up being another irrelevant mundane conversation, or waiting for a really obvious twist to be discovered by the characters. I’ve been playing a boring story about a woman having an affair for 9 days now and it’s still not over!

This is one of the most addicting games I have ever played. Everything about it is done so well and there so much much detail put into it which is really cool and makes you appreciate how much time and effort the creators put into it. I understand that a lot of the chats require coins to unlock, but you get daily rewards and ads to get free coins. Even to get paid coins is not very expensive so it’s not a big deal. Like I said before, there is a lot of effort put into the stories and so I really have no problem in spending money for coins as the creators really deserve it. 5 stars from me!
