Describe the fault or snap a photo. RepairBuddy identifies the likely cause and guides you safely through each repair step, in the right order.
RepairBuddy turns a broken appliance, a car fault or a dripping tap into a repair plan you can follow at home.
Describe the fault in your own words, or add a photo or a short video of the item. RepairBuddy works out the most likely cause and writes step-by-step instructions for someone standing in front of the thing that has packed up.
WHAT YOU CAN REPAIR
• Household appliances. A washing machine that will not spin. A fridge that has stopped cooling. A kettle or an oven that will not heat.
• Cars and vehicles. A warning light on the dashboard. Fluid dripping onto the driveway. A noise that started this week.
• Plumbing. A dripping kitchen tap. A slow drain. A toilet that keeps running.
• Phones, PCs and tablets. A cracked screen. A battery that is flat by lunchtime. A device that will not charge.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Start a repair and describe the fault in plain words.
2. Add a photo or a short video of the broken part, so nothing is lost in description.
3. Read the most likely cause, then work through the repair steps in order.
4. Mark the repair as fixed when it is sorted, or start a new one.
SAFETY FIRST
Every repair opens with the precautions for that particular job. Unplug the appliance. Turn off the water at the stopcock. Park on level ground and put the handbrake on. Clear the area and wear gloves. They appear before step one, not at the bottom of the page.
YOUR REPAIR HISTORY
Every repair you start is saved. Come back a month later and the diagnosis and the steps are still there, so a fix that worked once is a fix you can repeat.
WHO IT IS FOR
People who would rather understand the fault than guess at it. A video shows you someone else's washing machine. A forum thread answers someone else's question. RepairBuddy answers yours, and you decide what you take on and when to call someone out.
RepairBuddy offers guidance, not a guarantee. Stop and call a qualified professional for gas, mains electricity, or any job you are not comfortable doing. Gas work in the UK must be carried out by a registered engineer.
