DiveCore — Dive Computer for Apple Watch Ultra
DiveCore uses your Apple Watch Ultra's depth sensor, compass, and accelerometer to show your dive on your wrist. It syncs with the iPhone companion app and uses on-device AI to help you review your dives.
[ Core Features ]
Dive Computer (Apple Watch Ultra)
- Bühlmann ZHL-16C with adjustable Gradient Factors
- Real-time 16-tissue compartment decompression model
- No-decompression limit (NDL) and decompression ceiling
- Automatic safety stop countdown (3 min @ 3-6 m, credited with shallow deco stop time)
- Ascent rate alarm + haptic warnings
- PPO2 oxygen limit alarm
- Auto water lock
- HealthKit workout session integration
- 30Hz smooth digital compass
Freediving Mode
- Depth disciplines (CWT / CWTB / FIM), static apnea (STA), dynamic apnea (DYN / DNF)
- Automatic dive detection for depth, manual timer with lap entry for pool disciplines
- Dive count, max depth, surface interval, heart rate, and a per-session log
- A session spans many dives: surfacing starts the rest timer, and you end the session yourself
- Freedive mode runs no decompression model and no gas or NDL alarms
- It cannot detect shallow-water blackout. Never freedive alone, and always dive with direct, trained supervision
Estimated Dive Route
- Surface GPS at entry and exit; underwater path estimated from compass, motion and depth, then drift-corrected with the exit fix
- 3D route view on iPhone with insights (speed, activity, pattern, current drift)
This is not real underwater GPS tracking. It is a sensor-fusion estimate based on the diver's magnetic heading and motion, with both endpoints corrected by surface GPS fixes.
No-Fly Timer (Live Activity)
- DAN/UHMS guideline tiers (12h single no-deco / 18h repetitive or multi-day / 24h decompression), never shortened by a later dive
- Lock-screen + Dynamic Island countdown
AI Analysis (XAI — Explainable)
- 100% on-device, no external API calls
- Dive score (0-100) with itemized breakdown, stress zones and personal baseline
Dive Log + Share
- iCloud automatic sync across devices

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
DiveCore is a supplementary tool for trained, certified divers. It is not a replacement for proper training, dive tables, or a backup dive computer. Always dive within the limits of your training and certification, follow your primary dive computer, and carry a redundant device. Diving carries inherent risks, including serious injury or death.
more v2.2.2 Update
· Added support for iPhone Duo
· Changed how the surface interval and no-fly time are displayed
· Various fixes and improvements
2.2.2 2 days ago
v2.2.1 Update
· On Apple Watch, below 6 m the last measured depth stays on screen between readings; "NO DEPTH SENSOR" appears only after a long gap with no new reading
· The "workout failed" message no longer appears when a dive starts
· Freediving: dives below 6 m keep recording the depth the watch receives instead of stopping at 6 m
· After decompression stops, time at the shallow stops (1.5 to 6 m) counts toward the 3-minute safety stop
2.2.1 10 Oct
v2.2 Update
New
· Export & Import: export your dives as CSV, UDDF or JSON and import UDDF files. Imported dives are never used for no-fly time, NDL, decompression or CNS
· CNS% and OTU tracking on the watch (shown on the Technical gas page), with an early warning at CNS 80% and an alert at 100%, saved with your logs
· Trips suggested from your dives, saved only when you accept them
· Diver Card with your certification and card photos. A shared card image leaves out your certification number by default
· Dives recorded from now on show their time in the dive site's local time; older logs are marked as estimated
· No-Fly Minimum Wait and Surface Interval widgets on iPhone and complications on Apple Watch
· Freediving: optional depth, dive time and rest alerts (off by default) and a Dive Analysis on iPhone
Design
· iPhone: a new look with the system tab bar, and a depth chart with its own water temperature strip
· Apple Watch: a redesigned Minimal screen that keeps your MAX ring, a pre-dive checklist in Ready Mode, and a choice of Technical bottom bar items, including heading (HDG)
Apple Watch
· Scuba is now offered only on Apple Watch Ultra; other models keep the freediving modes they support
· If the workout briefly fails to start, the watch now retries automatically instead of showing the "workout failed" alert. If the workout recovers after that alert, you see "Dive session restored"
· Alarm texts point you to your stops, a shallower depth or your backup computer instead of just saying "ascend"
Subscription
· All features stay free through the end of 2026. After that, your logbook, existing reports, export and import, iCloud backup, planner, Diver Card, trips and no-fly status stay free. Pro covers new AI reports, new Studio projects and starting a new dive on the watch before Water Lock is on. If the watch is already in the water with Water Lock on, the dive screen still opens without Pro
Fixes
· Profile and emergency information edits are kept when you go back, the 3D route no longer blocks scrolling, and an earlier dive's log shows the minimum wait still running
2.2 29 Sept
v2.1.2 Update
Apple Watch
· Releasing Water Lock by pressing and holding the Digital Crown now stays released. At the surface, releasing Water Lock now properly ends Ready mode and the dive (underwater it locks again, as before)
· Fixed a "Workout failed to start" alert that could appear when opening the dive screen after the app had quit unexpectedly
2.1.2 27 Sept
v2.1.1 Update
Water Lock
· Water Lock is released by pressing and holding the Digital Crown until "Unlocked" appears. Our instructions said to turn the Crown, which does not unlock on current watchOS — corrected on the watch, in the freediving controls and in the iPhone guide
Apple Watch
· Releasing Water Lock at the surface ends Ready mode again
· A dive started at the surface without entering the water now ends when you release Water Lock. It keeps running while you are deeper than 1.2 m (4 ft) or while a decompression stop is owed
· In scuba mode, if the watch app opens while you are already in the water, it now arms Ready, so even a slow descent starts the dive
· Dives that never reach 1.2 m (4 ft) are not saved, and the end summary now says "Not saved"
2.1.1 25 Sept
v2.1 Update
The iPhone app is now four tabs
· Today · Logs · Plan · Me — the screens you use most are at the front
· Today gathers your last dive, average heart rate, score trend, the map of your dive sites, average water temperature and average SAC on one screen
· In a dive log, the AI analysis now sits directly under the profile chart
· A log with anything unmeasured tells you what is missing — route, entry GPS, water temperature, GF — and why
Records no longer disappear
· Generating a report for an older dive could delete another dive's measured report, on the device and in iCloud
· Sync could report itself complete when backup was off or iCloud was unavailable
· A manually entered end pressure was not learned into your personal SAC baseline
Apple Watch
· When the app comes up in the water it opens the dive instrument, not the card menu — there is no longer a screen you cannot leave under Water Lock
· Ascent rate no longer stays red at an old value after you stop at the surface, and three-digit values are no longer cut off
· If a safety stop is interrupted, the instrument tells you what is left
· Freediving: a dip that did not count no longer disturbs the rest timer or the previous profile, and the guidance for ending a session under Water Lock is correct
· Metre values that were typed into text now follow your unit setting — the instructions no longer read wrong in feet
Display, translation and accessibility
· Fixed text that was cut off in all 14 languages — instrument labels, logbook rows, the three-column summary, banners and toasts
· Counts now follow each language's singular and plural rules
· Lists and summaries were relaid out so they no longer collide at large text sizes
· Dive times could print a single-digit minute
Also
· Report: a dive with no heart rate reading showed "−100%", list order by date, risk chart guidance
· Planner: the depth scale shifted when you changed units, and the MOD note now matches the actual limit
· The grade symbol beside the score is gone. The grade is still shown as text and as the score itself
2.1 23 Sept
v2.0.2 Update
- Apple Watch: nitrogen loading during a lost-sensor hold is now applied when the dive ends, so no-fly time and the next dive's no-decompression limit are calculated more conservatively
- Apple Watch: NDL stays on screen during decompression and the stop is shown in one place (STOP AT). Crossing the ascent ceiling now shows CEILING ↓
- Apple Watch: fixed surface pressure staying at sea level after an underwater restart on altitude dives
- Apple Watch: the Minimal layout now shows sensor lost and sensor delay states
- iPhone: the Dive Display settings show a preview of your watch screen
- iPhone: dive logs without a recorded end pressure can now be edited and saved, and dates in the log list are no longer cut off
- iPhone: emergency numbers in international format (+) now dial correctly, and subscription details are no longer shown incorrectly during the free promotion
- General stability and UI refinements
(Previous)
v2.0.1 Update
- Scuba on Apple Watch: at the surface, releasing Water Lock with the Digital Crown now ends the dive, as does about 2 minutes out of the water. The countdown that reopened each time your wrist left the water is gone. Doesn't apply underwater, in freediving or with a decompression obligation
- Fixed false "NO DEPTH SENSOR" warnings below 6 m, at a 5 m stop, on repeat dives and after leaving the water
- Depth sensor lost: the Action Button now shows the instruments while the warning continues. SENSOR DELAY now appears on the default screen
- Fixed an OK summary after surfacing with a decompression obligation, and sea-level pressure on altitude dives started straight from Ready
- Freediving: at the surface under Water Lock, press the Action Button twice to end a depth session. Instrument labels are now localized
- Logged water temperature and the low-temperature alarm now use sensor readings only
- iPhone: the depth profile and exit location sent after each dive now reach iCloud backup
- Planner tank warnings no longer count the gas reserve twice; AI dive reports use your real surface interval
- The emergency number follows your iPhone's region; Studio's dive log watermark no longer adds your location
- General stability and UI refinements
(Previous)
v2.0 Update
- New freediving mode: depth disciplines (CWT/CWTB/FIM), static apnea (STA) and dynamic apnea (DYN/DNF), recording dive count, max depth, surface interval and heart rate
- A new freediving instrument screen. Turn the Digital Crown through three instrument pages plus a control page; each discipline has its own colour
- A freediving session does not end when you surface. It keeps recording across dives and rest, and releasing Water Lock with the Digital Crown asks whether you are finished
- Freedive mode runs no decompression model and no gas or NDL alarms. Please read and accept the updated safety notice — this app cannot detect shallow-water blackout. Never freedive alone
- Entering freedive mode soon after a scuba dive now tells you that you still carry residual nitrogen
- The Apple Watch scuba dive screen was redesigned: pure black with hairline dividers and five Crown pages (hero, compass, stop guidance, info list, gas/tank)
- Fixed a bug where relaunching the app during a dive showed "depth sensor not supported" and left the app unusable
- Fixed the decompression first-stop reference so the plan the app gives you no longer trips the app's own ceiling alarm
- Corrected display and stepping for yard pools and feet depth settings
- General stability and UI refinements

v1.1.5 Update
- No-fly time now follows the DAN/UHMS guideline exactly: 12 h after a single no-decompression dive, 18 h after multiple dives per day or multi-day diving, 24 h after a decompression dive — fixes repetitive-dive no-fly times that were shown far longer than the guideline
- Rebuilt Dive Planner on the PADI Recreational Dive Planner (RDP): no-deco limits and pressure groups, repetitive dives (surface interval → residual nitrogen → adjusted no-deco limit), nitrox via Equivalent Air Depth, and RDP safety-stop / minimum-surface-interval / emergency-decompression rules — plan with the same numbers you were trained on
- On Apple Watch, a first-launch prompt lets you allow Health, Motion & Fitness, and Location ahead of time — no more permission sheets appearing under Water Lock during a dive
- The depth graph in iPhone dive details now shows the surface (0 m) at the top and deeper below, matching the Watch and the share card; the water-temperature line now lines up with its scale
- Planner sliders: scrolling that starts on a slider no longer jumps the value, and a tap sets the value directly
- New Gas Time Remaining (GTR): estimates your remaining gas time from tank start pressure, depth, heart rate, and elapsed time — informational only; always check your actual SPG
- Bigger, easier-to-read tank card sized for the Apple Watch Ultra display
- More reliable ascent-rate warnings
- Better time display for sub-minute logs (m:ss)
- General stability and UI refinements
(Previous)
v1.1.3 Update
- Much more reliable iCloud backup & restore, now resilient on weak connections (e.g. out at sea) — if the connection drops, your logs are saved on the device and back up automatically once you're back online, and you can keep using the app while it backs up
- The depth readout on the underwater screen now updates sub-second, smoothly and instantly
- Improved depth-tracking accuracy through the shallow-to-deep transition
- Strengthened safety alerts (including oxygen partial pressure / ppO2) and more conservative decompression
- Dives now start reliably even on a slow descent or a brief hover
- If your watch restarts mid-dive, your dive resumes seamlessly instead of ending
- Stronger AI photo & video enhancement in Studio — more accurate automatic underwater color restoration, natural dehaze, improved upscaling, and consistent color correction across video
- Add and edit notes and a buddy on a dive log after the dive
- Many stability and UI improvements — tank labels, dive-report generation, video export status, No-Fly Live Activity, settings sync, and more

afety and reliability improvements throughout:
• Critical ascent-rate and ceiling alarms stay clearly visible on screen — even during a safety stop.
• Improved safety-stop and decompression guidance with a more accurate ascent-rate readout.
• More reliable sync of your gas mix, gradient factors and settings between Apple Watch and iPhone.
• Dive logs now always record the exact configuration each dive actually ran with.
• More robust recovery after sensor loss or an underwater restart — your dive keeps computing.
• Clearer no-fly guidance (DAN/UHMS: 12 h minimum, 24 h recommended before flying).
• Consistent depth-limit and backup-computer reminders in all 14 languages.
• Many stability and battery optimizations.
Always dive within your training and carry a backup dive computer.
