PHASE Connect 2.0 - the studio is one screen. STUDIO and PLAY were two tabs, each with its own counter, transport, tempo and timing controls. Now there is one of each, always on screen, and a single TRACKS / PLAY switch changes the bottom half of the page. - One counter, and it never stops. The position and the count-in read the audible time, so the number agrees with what you hear. - The lane you pick in the timeline is the lane the keyboard plays. Pick it once. - Two bars along the bottom - TRACK and SESSION - read out the state they open, so most of the time you don't need to open them. - SET TEMPO FROM THIS TAKE: tell it how many bars your take is and the session tempo becomes the take's own tempo, to the hundredth of a BPM. Tempo nudges in hundredths now, so the click can sit on a groove that isn't a whole number. - The keyboard and the pads are bigger - they took back the space the duplicate controls were using. - REC arms the track you can see instead of rolling with nothing armed, and CLICK is a real on/off switch on the transport. - MIXDOWN, STEMS and SEND TO PHASE can no longer slide off the bottom of a short screen. - Dragging a take no longer grabs its neighbour, and dragging is smooth instead of sticky. - DESTRUCT asks before it replaces a part. CHART MAKR writes flams, triplets and every meter. • Flams and drags become grace notes — a small slashed note (two beamed for a drag) with a slur into the hit. • Real triplets, sextuplets and quarter-note triplets are written as tuplets, with a 3 or a 6 over the group and a bracket where the beam breaks. • 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, 5/4, 7/4 and 2/2 are grouped and beamed the way they read, with bars the right length in every signature. • RHYTHM grid: TRIPLET steps to place triplets by hand, and GRACE MODE to hang a flam on a hit. • Same engine as PHASE 13.6 on the Mac.
