GAMES WE LOVE

Unpacking

Everything has its place in these relaxing decorating puzzles.

Moving to a new home can be an exciting, bittersweet experience – and Unpacking captures those emotions perfectly. Tap to open moving boxes, then place items wherever you’d like them to go: dishes in the kitchen cabinet, a computer on a desk, toilet paper on the roll hanger (you can even choose which way it faces). All the joy of starting anew with none of the hassle!

What we love: The brilliant, unspoken story. You’ll accompany a never-seen character through eight moves that chronicle her life – from decorating her room as a little girl to setting up her home office as an adult. As you pore over hundreds of intricate personal items, her tale is lovingly revealed... one box at a time.

Put that sweet boom box on the shelf, then try turning it on for a musical treat.

Quick tip: Unpacking is loaded with secrets recorded in your sticker album. Try repeatedly rotating the Rubik’s Cube until it’s solved or putting the cookie jar on the highest shelf in the kitchen. See a toilet? Be sure to interact with at least seven of them over the course of the game to nab the coveted “Gotta flush ’em all” sticker.

Meet the creator: Australian indie studio Witch Beam won a BAFTA Award for their work on Unpacking. The idea for the game came when co-creators Wren Brier and Tim Dawson moved in together.
