Kaisei means a clear, cloudless sky. A quiet, terminal-style forecast with next-hour rain, 10 days ahead, the sun, the moon and the stars, plus widgets and themes.
Kaisei (快晴) means "clear cloudless sky."
A weather app with the look of a terminal: flat panels, square corners, monospaced type, and pixel art where other apps put a spinner. Forecasts come from Apple Weather. There is no account, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
YOUR PLACES, ONE PAGE EACH
Swipe sideways between where you are and up to five saved cities. Every page keeps its own forecast, its own scroll position and its own clock, set to that city's time zone. Add a city with autocomplete search, then reorder or remove it whenever you like.
TODAY, IN DETAIL
- Current conditions with feels-like, high and low, wind, humidity and UV index
- Rain in the next hour, one bar per minute, with the minute it starts and stops
- A plain line on the next twelve hours, so you know about the umbrella
- A 24-hour strip of temperature and the chance of rain
- Pressure and its trend, visibility, dew point, and cloud cover split into low, middle and high layers
TEN DAYS, AND THE LONG VIEW
Ten days of highs and lows on one shared scale. Tap any day for its own hours, its own night and its own details. Underneath, the climate averages for this month and the next three, labelled as averages and never dressed up as a forecast.
DAYLIGHT AND THE NIGHT SKY
Sunrise, sunset, the length of the day and how much light is left in it, plus dawn, dusk and golden hour. After dark: the moon between its rise and its set, the phase, the next full and new moon, how long the sky stays fully dark, and whether cloud will hide the stars.
SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS, IF YOU WANT THEM
Switch them on and Kaisei watches for severe and extreme warnings where you are, then shows you the issuing agency's own words, unchanged, with the agency named. Every notification is composed on your iPhone. There is no push server and no device token, so nobody, us included, can send you anything through this app.
SEVEN HOME SCREEN WIDGETS
Kaisei Weather, Hourly, Hourly Rain, Umbrella, Daylight, Night sky and Moon phase, across small, medium and large sizes, with Daylight and Moon phase on the Lock Screen too. Each widget follows your device or sits on a saved city, and each one wears the theme you chose.
TWENTY THEMES
Twelve of them are free. Dark ones and light ones, from Tokyo Neon to Washi Paper, each previewed on your own forecast before you commit to it.
MADE TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY
- Temperature, wind, pressure and distance units, each set on its own
- Seven languages: English, Polish, Dutch, German, Spanish, Swedish and Italian
- VoiceOver labels throughout, Dynamic Type everywhere, and every theme checked for contrast
- Nothing is fetched while what is on screen is less than thirty minutes old
PRIVACY, IN PLAIN TERMS
No sign-up, no email address, no password. No analytics, no advertising identifier, and not one third-party framework: everything in the app is Apple's own. Before a request leaves your iPhone your coordinates are rounded to about a kilometre, and the precise position is never stored. Settings, saved cities and cached forecasts live on your device and nowhere else.
BUY A COFFEE
Every forecast in the app is free and will stay that way. If you want to say thank you, there are three one-time purchases, Espresso, Americano and Latte, and each one unlocks a handful of extra themes. The Latte adds a builder for making your own. They are the only purchases in the app, they do not stack, and they unlock nothing but colours.

Unfold your iPhone Duo and every screen uses the full width:
- Weather: feels like, low and high sit beside the temperature, with a larger weather icon.
- Daylight and Night sky side by side, with the moon lined up on the sun's horizon.
- Details in two rows of four, and dates added to the 10-day forecast.
- Climate averages two months per row.
- Day view: tap any day for the same wide layout.
- Settings: your groups in a list, with their settings beside it.
- Buy a Coffee: each coffee beside the themes it unlocks.
- Themes: a full preview next to the theme list, in Appearance and when you first set up the app.
- Locations: your cities kept to a comfortable reading width, with Edit in the side panel.
