The Daily Crossword is free to download. All customers are welcome to try a free 7 day trial period. If you choose to continue using the app, you can choose between the auto renewing subscriptions:

Monthly subscription: $9.99 USD
Yearly subscription: $39.99 USD

The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. The account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, at the same price that you initially secured.

You may cancel automatic renewal by selecting Manage App Subscriptions in your iTunes Account settings and selecting the subscription you want to modify. Alternatively you can tap on Manage Subscription in the Settings section of the app.
