Is your skincare actually working? Scan daily, get four scores for acne, redness, pores and spots, and watch your trend line prove what works on you.
See if your skincare actually works. Trace is a 30-day product test with daily AI face scans, measuring how your acne, redness, pores, and dullness actually change.
Reviews online can't predict your skin. Trace can.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick one product to test. Keep the rest of your routine the same.
2. Take a quick selfie scan each morning.
3. After 30 days, see a real measurement of what changed.
The single-product method is borrowed from clinical research: change one variable, hold the rest steady, measure the result. That is the only honest way to know what works on YOUR skin.
WHAT WE MEASURE
Every scan runs four on-device analyzers in about 2 seconds. No photos go to a cloud server. No third-party AI services.
• Acne: detects and counts comedones, papules, pustules, and nodulocystic lesions. Includes IGA clinical grading.
• Redness: quantifies erythema using a dermatologist-validated Lab a* pipeline.
• Pores: measures pore-level texture across forehead, cheeks, and nose with CLAHE and black-hat differential.
• Dullness: tracks luminance and tone evenness.
You get a daily score, a 30-day trend chart, and an end-of-test report.
DAILY JOURNAL
Log what may have affected your skin: sleep, diet, stress, period, travel. Trace overlays this on your skin trend so you can separate product effect from life noise.
WHO TRACE IS FOR
• Skincare beginners building a first routine and not sure what is working
• Veterans testing a new retinol, tretinoin, or treatment serum
• People with sensitive skin tracing trigger ingredients
• Anyone tired of buying skincare on faith
PRIVACY: ON DEVICE
All skin analysis runs entirely on your iPhone. Your photos and scores sync only to your private account, secured end to end. We do not send your face to any third-party AI service. Ever.
WHY 30 DAYS
Skin cell turnover is 28 days for adults. Most active ingredients (retinol, salicylic acid, niacinamide) take 4 to 6 weeks to show real change. 30 days is the minimum honest window. Trace gives you a daily measurement against that window, not a marketing promise.
CLINICAL CONTEXT
Trace's acne taxonomy follows dermatology standards: comedone (closed or open), papule (red bump), pustule (whitehead), nodulocystic (deep cyst). The IGA score (Investigator Global Assessment) is the standard grading scale used in clinical trials. Trace exposes the same language a dermatologist uses, not a watered-down "skin score."
WHAT MAKES TRACE DIFFERENT
Most skincare apps recommend products and call that "AI". Trace measures your actual skin and shows you the data. The difference matters: a recommendation can be wrong; a measurement is just what happened.
• Daily measurement, not weekly check-in
• Clinical taxonomy you can take to a dermatologist
• On-device AI, no photo upload, no third-party AI
• Single-variable testing to find what actually works
• Free, no subscription, no upsell to product kits
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
At the end of each 30-day test, export the full report (daily scores, trend chart, journal entries, photos) for your own records or to share with your dermatologist.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Q: Does Trace recommend products?
A: No. Trace is a measurement tool, not a product recommender. You bring the routine, Trace tells you if it worked.
Q: Is my face uploaded to AI servers?
A: No. All scans run on your iPhone. Photos sync only to your private cloud account.
Q: How long until I see results?
A: 30 days minimum. Skin cell turnover is 28 days for adults, and most active ingredients need 4 to 6 weeks to show measurable change.
Q: Can I test more than one product at a time?
A: You can, but it defeats the purpose. Single-variable testing is the only way to know which product caused which change.
NOT MEDICAL ADVICE
Trace is a skin-tracking and measurement tool, not a diagnostic device. If you have ongoing skin concerns, see a dermatologist.
