Current Reader
A calm RSS feed reader
9,99 €
Current is an RSS reader built on a simple idea: your feed should never make you feel behind.
There are no unread counts. No red badges. No number climbing while you sleep, silently tallying everything you haven't read. Current shows you what's new right now, and that's it. Nothing is owed. Nothing is overdue. You open it when you want to read, and whatever's there is what's there.
The design is intentional. Every screen, every interaction, every animation was built to feel calm and unhurried. Articles are presented beautifully with clean typography and generous whitespace. Navigation is fluid and intuitive. The app gets out of the way and lets you focus on what matters: the writing.
Current supports multiple sync providers so you can bring your existing subscriptions:
- Feedbin
- MiniFlux
- FreshRSS
- The Old Reader
- NewsBlur
- Local RSS (on-device, no account needed)
Features:
- Universal app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac
- Beautiful article reader with smart formatting
- Full-text article extraction
- Light and dark themes
- Background refresh
- OPML import and export
- Share extension
- Keyboard shortcuts on iPad and Mac
- iCloud sync for local feeds
Current is a one-time purchase. No subscription. No ads. No tracking. Just an app you buy once and own forever.
Built by an indie developer who wanted to love RSS again.

Redesigned Settings
Settings has been completely reorganized with clear sections and icon badges. App Theme and Reader Theme are now independent. Changing one no longer forces the other to match. A new Text Size screen gives you dedicated sliders for both the reader and the feed list. Source Cleanup and OPML Import have moved up to Sources & Data for easier access.
Thumbnails in the Feed
Article rows can now display thumbnail images alongside excerpts. Enable Show Thumbnails in Settings.
Compact Mode
A new high-density layout for the feed list. Just titles and sources, no excerpts. Great for scanning through busy feeds. Enable Compact Mode in Settings.
Improved Reader
* Font size changes apply instantly without reloading the page
* Reading position is preserved when rotating your device
* Better extraction quality. The app now scores extraction results and falls back to feed content when extraction is poor
* Per-site extraction overrides
* Linkblog support. When a source links to external articles, the linked article is extracted instead
Image Viewer
The image lightbox has been completely rewritten with native pinch-to-zoom, double-tap to zoom, and smooth pull-to-dismiss.
Smarter Refresh
* Feeds that have not changed since the last check are skipped entirely, making large refreshes significantly faster
* Feeds returning errors are temporarily paused instead of retried every cycle
* When a server blocks requests (HTTP 429), all feeds on that host are paused for the rest of the cycle
* Background refresh now prioritizes your active current’s feeds first
CloudKit Sync
* Fixed an issue where approximately 800 or more records were re-sent to iCloud on every launch instead of flushing
* Preferences now sync with conflict resolution. Edits on both devices are merged instead of one overwriting the other
* Voice and person metadata edits now sync between devices
* Larger sync batches and less frequent polling reduce iCloud overhead
Feedbin and Miniflux
* Feedbin mute rules are now respected. Muted articles will not appear in your feed
* Faster sync for both Feedbin and Miniflux
* Better source matching after OPML import
iPad
* Selecting an article now auto-collapses the sidebar. The drag handle is always visible and easier to grab
Share Extension
* Fixed URL detection when sharing from Brave and Chrome
1.0.3 20 Feb
Auto-Advance Reading
Keep the flow going: a new setting lets you automatically advance to the next article when you
release one, instead of returning to the river. Enable it in Settings → Reading.
Show Original Website
Some sites are best read in their original form. You can now set any source to load its full
website in the reader instead of the extracted article. Pair it with "Sign in to site" for
paywalled sources.
Discussion Links
Articles from feeds that include comment links (like Hacker News) now show a "Comments" link in
the reader header.
Smarter Background Refresh
Background refresh now prioritizes the feeds in your active current, and a new deep-refresh mode
prefetches article content so articles open instantly.
More Improvements

- Font size slider added to the theme picker for quick access
