For a game that advertises itself as “simulator-like” and requiring strategic choices from its player, this game is stupidly reliant on RNG. Much like its predecessor, whether or not you’ll get the coveted 5 biohazard fungus speedrun on mega brutal is ENTIRELY dependent on whether the game allows you to infect a few specific countries (most islands, including the dreaded Greenalnd). Even having Water 1+2 and having a country 100% infected does not guarantee that a ship leaving its harbor will be a red carrier ship. If I’ve done everything in my power and the outcome depends on the game’s internal coinflip, this is not strategy. Rebel Inc is pretty much the same, only its RNG centers around rebels and some events( tribal dispute? 50/50, no matter what upgrades you have or how much intel you’ve gathered. Strategy!!). If the rebels spawn at unfavorable place on the map, the only winning move is to restart. The game also feels sparse in content compared to its predecessor(infections, special infections, speed-runs, scenarios etc) As it is now, completing the game on brutal is a gigantic anti-fun chore dependent on whether you’re feeing lucky punk and if that was the intention because “lol its called brutal for a reason”, then thats even worse.
