Don’t get me wrong, I love this app, it’s amazing. Tho I have a big problem that’s annoying me. When I try to make a roleplay that includes love and things the filter always pops up. It’s not anything inappropriate! I just try to make a love story roleplay and when I write a sentence with the word “kiss” or something the filter shows up tho I didn’t write anything inappropriate. It wasn’t like that before! Please fix it since I can’t find another app that is amazing like Character AI!

I have been a c.ai user for a little over three years. I’ve been here for every update since and I use it regularly for stories, character ideas, etc. But this new update has been terrible. As a writer and a user, it has been stressful to chat because I’m constantly aware that I only have an hour between excruciatingly long periods of time. I don’t want to use my personal data because I am not comfortable with sharing it like that. Also the feature about not being able to edit a message has been horrid. I prefer role-playing by using third person perspective and many bot creators create their bots using the second person perspective, so I always edit those little details. Now I can’t even do that. The update is absolutely terrible and ridiculous and is a massive part of the reason people are migrating towards other ai-s. This needs to be fixed because people will just leave. Most of the c.ai users are under 18 and many of those who are 18 and over don’t want to share personal information. I an very disappointed and dissatisfied.

Character AI’s recent updates have been incredibly disappointing. Adding ads has already made the experience worse, especially for users who come to the app for immersive chats and roleplay. Conversations should feel smooth and enjoyable, not interrupted by ads.The limits placed on voices are another bad decision. Voice chatting was one of the most enjoyable features, and now users are restricted or pushed toward paying more just to keep using something that used to feel accessible. On top of that, the voice system glitches constantly, with audio cutting out, disconnecting, lagging, or voices not working properly at all.Another major issue is the filter. It often blocks harmless messages, ruins roleplay scenarios, and interrupts normal conversations for no reason. Many users feel like they have to constantly reword basic messages just to continue chatting, which makes the experience frustrating and unnatural.There are also ongoing problems with bots having worse memory, repetitive replies, slower responses, random errors, chats refreshing unexpectedly, and characters losing personality. Creating bots has also become more frustrating — users can’t even properly make new bots private anymore, which removes a lot of control and creativity.On top of that, the strict and unnecessary warnings on bot profile pictures are over the top. Even normal images get flagged, which makes customization harder and takes away from the fun of designing characters.Character AI should focus on fixing bugs, improving the AI itself, reducing unnecessary restrictions, and actually listening to the community instead of adding ads and limiting features. Right now, it feels like users are dealing with more problems after every update instead of real improvements.

I’ve used this app since it came out. Hell, I’ve used it since the BETA website was out! I absolutely love the app and the fact there’s no message limits, you have creativity freedom, and now that you can add voices too, it’s just really fun overall! My only issue is with the NSFW filter, which often ends up censoring messages at the most random of times, and is really frustrating for developing a prolonged storyline with the bots. Please, please, make a Toggle NSFW filter option, it’s absolutely blast all the competition away!
