A picture behind your page, notes you can see, and smoother read-aloud in the car. READING • Put a photo, such as a paper texture, behind the text of EPUB and plain-text books, with a dimming slider so the words stay readable. Set one for every book or just this one; it stays on this device. • In EPUBs (except fixed-layout ones), a highlight with a note shows a small note mark at its end. Tap it to read the note. • "Listen from Here" is now the first item when you long-press text. • Fonts made for another language show that language under their name. • A saved position or bookmark into a chapter the book no longer has opens the book instead of a blank page. • Highlights are found more reliably at the start and end of a chapter in continuous scroll. A highlight whose passage changed is no longer shown on the wrong word; it stays listed on the book's page. LISTEN • Improved read-aloud through wireless CarPlay in the Normal audio mode, to stop the voice stuttering mid-sentence. • Skipping sentences quickly on CarPlay no longer silences read-aloud. • Pressing Listen right after auto-scroll starts at the top of the page you are looking at. • On a new install, "Pause When CarPlay Disconnects", "Ignore Short Sentences" and "Stick to the Main Language" start on. Existing settings are unchanged. COMICS • Webtoon scroll in the Image Gallery runs images edge to edge, without black gaps. LIBRARY • An EPUB that fails the import safety check now says why instead of importing a book that cannot open. Over-compressed books imported from Files or by sharing can be imported anyway. An over-compressed EPUB already in your library asks before it opens, and remembers that you opened it, on this device. • Clean Duplicates' Copy Data & Delete no longer crashes after merging.

Notes, colours and PDFs that read aloud. NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS • Highlights in five colours, with Change Color and Remove. • Add a note to any highlight or bookmark. • A book's page lists its bookmarks, highlights and notes — tap one to jump there. LISTEN • PDFs can be read aloud, with the spoken sentence highlighted; headers, footers and page numbers are skipped. • "Listen from Here" starts reading at the selected sentence. • Choose the read-aloud language per book, or keep to each chapter's main language. • Optional: pause when CarPlay disconnects, and leave read-aloud when the book ends. • Disconnecting headphones pauses the book, and a paused book stays paused through calls and Siri. IMPORTING • Share a book from Files, Mail or Safari to Idyllic, or drag books from Files onto the library. • Importing several files shows progress, can be cancelled, and ends with a summary. ALSO • Bookmarks in PDFs, a faster large library, a new Clean Up Stray Files tool, better protection for hidden books, and many fixes.

Faster with a large library, and series get their own look. LIBRARY • Hiding, unhiding or deleting many books at once shows a running count instead of appearing frozen, and the library refreshes once at the end. Hiding a folder of books is much faster. • Re-extract All Metadata can be cancelled and no longer stalls on large files. Clean Duplicates and Repair Library scan without freezing the screen. • Pre-process Upscaling for comics runs without hitching the app and shows its progress. SERIES • A series shows as a stack of covers in every layout, with a bar showing which volumes are read, and says where the rest of its volumes are. • Favourite a series: favourites sort first with a star. Long-press a stack for View Series, Select All Volumes, favourite and Series Settings. • Group by Series works in the Table and Magazine layouts too, and lives in the filter sheet. • Typing a series name that differs from an existing one only by case or spacing offers to join it instead of creating a twin. READING • The reader follows the app's Theme setting by default, and plain-text and RTF books honour it too. • In continuous scroll, the bookmark button adds a bookmark where you are and removes it on a second tap. • EPUB search highlights sit exactly on the matched word. • The comic Navigation grid shows every page, and reopening a comic shows the full grid straight away. LISTEN • Play always speaks again after rapid pause, play and skip presses. • Previous sentence at the start of a chapter reads the last sentence of the previous chapter. ALSO • Changing the sort keeps your place, a filter starts at the top, and switching layouts keeps the same books on screen. • On iPad, the library's sheets no longer change the folder column behind them. • Hidden books are better protected when you leave the app or hidden mode. • Two more bundled titles: Aesop's Fables and Edward Lear's Nonsense Songs. • The User Guide documents series, and the About screen shows the real version.
