It was a habit of many from among the salaf to complete the recitation of the whole Qur'an within a week and therefore people such as Hamza Al-Zayyat (d.156/772) worked on dividing the Qur'an into 7 Equal Sections, each Section became know as a Manzil. The Manzil (7 Equal Sections or Portions of the Qur'an): Manzil 1: Surah Al-Fatihah To Surah An-Nisa' - Total 4 Surahs - COLORED BLUE Al-Ma'ida (chapter 5) through At-Tawba (chapter 9) consisting of 5 chapters - COLORED GREEN Yunus (chapter 10) through An-Nahl (chapter 16) consisting of 7 chapters - COLORED ORANGE Al Isra' (chapter 17) through Al-Furqan (chapter 25) consisting of 9 chapters - COLORED RED Ash-Shuara' (chapter 26) through Ya-Seen (chapter 36) consisting of 11 chapters - COLORED CYAN As-Saaffat (chapter 37) through Al-Hujurat (chapter 49) consisting of 13 chapters - COLORED PINK Qaf (chapter 50) through An-Nas (chapter 114) consisting of 65 chapters - COLORED PURPLE The Rainbow Quran is a beautiful special edition of the Holy Quran. It features each topic of the Quran in a different color. In Quran, there are 7 Manzils. So each manzil is made in a different color. There are 7 colors in this rainbow Quran.
