MyDeepNotes
Shared notes for tutoring
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
MyDeepNotes is a PDF and handwriting notebook built for private tutors and the students they teach.
WRITE ON YOUR PDFs
Bring in question banks, worksheets and notes, then write straight onto them. Pen, pencil and marker; solid, dashed and dotted strokes; lasso selection and three kinds of eraser. Lines and shapes straighten themselves if you want them to.
TEACH TOGETHER, LIVE
Work on the same document as your student, at the same time. You send a link, they tap it, and you both write on the same page. Pen strokes appear on the other device as they happen. Your student needs no account and pays nothing.
ASSIGN AND FOLLOW ALONG
Assign a document as homework and see which pages your student has worked on. Only whether a page has ink — never what was written.
KEEP REFERENCES WITHIN REACH
Park a formula booklet, a periodic table, or any PDF you check often as a side panel. One tap opens it beside your work, one tap puts it away.
MAKE NOTEBOOKS
Grid, ruled or blank paper; pick a cover, set the page count. Notebooks stay organised in folders.
ALSO
• Links inside PDFs work — jump from a table of contents to the page
• Type a page number and go straight there
• Add, duplicate, rotate and clear pages
• Paste images onto a page, then move and resize them
• Open documents stay as tabs across the top
• Your documents back up to iCloud
No account needed. No ads. No tracking.

Much more reliable live lessons:
• Writing and erasing now sync stroke by stroke – faster, and full pages no longer get stuck or overwrite each other
• Sticky notes work like shared pages: both people can write and erase on the same note at the same time without losing anything
• Erasing the other person's writing (with finger or pencil) now works everywhere and no longer comes back
• Redo works reliably on iPhone
• New Share panel: one link per document with Copy and Send
• Lesson stopwatch in the document bar
• New pen, pencil and highlighter icons, refreshed tabs, pages panel on the left
• Sticky note text keeps its true ink color

Unlimited, reliable undo and redo for every action, including page changes, sticky notes and photos; two-finger tap to undo, three-finger tap to redo. Shared homework and lesson links now open directly in the app. Fixed a freeze where the pen and scrolling stopped responding after returning to the app. Scribble-to-erase now works with fewer strokes and only erases the letter you scribble over. Bigger, easier corner handles for photos, stickers and sticky notes. New home button, cleaner add-page icon, and folders slide in when opened. Eraser sizes now work as shown. Follow mode now matches zoom. Fixes for sticky notes in live lessons.

New writing engine: ink stays sharp when you zoom in. Pasted photos now carry the writing on top of them when moved or resized, and appear for both sides in live lessons. Tapping an empty spot with Apple Pencil releases a selected sticky note or photo.
1.0.13 5 Oct
Sync
• Sync with iCloud: your iPad and iPhone (same Apple ID) can show the same library — folders, PDFs and handwriting. Turn it on in Account on both devices.
Writing & selection
• A cleaner lasso selection: a thin frame with round corner handles and a rotate handle on the side. Grab a free-form selection anywhere inside the outline you drew.
• Scribble-to-erase now removes only the letter you scribble over, not its neighbours.
• Pasted screenshots keep the size they had on screen instead of filling the page.
Side pocket
• Write on the PDF in the side pocket with Apple Pencil, using your current pen; the red lasso erases there too.
Lesson animations
• Secant to Tangent: as h → 0 the slope of the secant approaches the derivative.
• Standard Normal: find an unknown x from an area using z, side by side with the standard normal.
• Normal Distribution: wider axis (−5 to 20) and σ up to 5.
• New installs open with a clean dotted notebook.
1.0.12 3 Oct
Homework
• Send one homework to several students at once: each student gets their own copy and link, so every student's work is tracked separately. A copy named after each student is created in your library.
Lessons
• New animation: Normal Distribution — move μ and σ and see the probability of μ ± kσ (68% – 95% – 99.7%).
• Students can now open lesson animations from the cap button.
Fixes
• A sticky note dragged to the far edge no longer gets stuck there.
1.0.11 2 Oct
Teacher mode
• New lesson animations: principal angle (spin the angle past 360° and see its principal value), derivative & tangent, and integral & area.
• Stickers like "Well done!" and "Congratulations!" — place them next to the question.
• When you follow your student's screen, they now see a small green "Watched" badge.
Writing
• Apple Pencil double-tap switches to the eraser (follows your Apple Pencil setting).
• Scribble-to-erase now works on small areas, like a single digit.
Library & pockets
• Import several PDFs at once, from Files or by drag and drop.
• Resizing the side pocket is smoother.
• Shared lesson links are now much shorter.
• New installs start with clean, untitled notebooks.
1.0.10 1 Oct
Shared lessons
• Erasing the other person's writing is now as precise as erasing your own, and erased writing no longer flashes back — even if the other device was locked.
• The other person's line appears while they write with the same color and thickness as the final stroke.
• Pinch-zooming on iPhone no longer draws a stray line; large pasted images reach the other person reliably.
• Sticky notes: both people can write and erase on the same note at the same time; toolbar to collapse, cut, duplicate and delete; writing scales with the note; all pen features work on notes.
Pages
• Adding a page no longer moves your screen. Choose before/after/end and blank, lined or grid paper.
• Pull up at the end of the document to add a page.
• New page panel with thumbnails, and a fast-scroll handle with the page number.
Writing
• New highlighter: round tip, even width, keeps the text underneath crisp.
• Size and color options appear under the toolbar for the selected tool.
• The lasso returns to the pen after use.
Library
• New folder look with colors, swipe left to delete, 26 new simple notebook covers (covers are optional).
Teacher mode
• Stickers: tap "Well done!", "Congratulations!" and more, drag the sticker next to the question and tap to place it.
• Lesson animations: an animated limit example opens in a floating window you can move and resize.
1.0.9 29 Sept
Homework
• Writing on homework is now saved online: whoever writes — teacher or student — the other sees it when they open the homework, even if they weren't online at the same time.
• A teacher's own notes no longer change the student's page progress.
Shared lessons
• Follow: tap "Follow" in the top bar and your screen moves with the other person's — the same page, the same spot. Tap again to stop.
• Adding a page no longer jumps you to the new blank page; you stay where you were writing.
• Black ink now stays black when a device is in Dark Mode.
Undo, rebuilt
• Undo and redo now cover images (add, move, resize, duplicate, flip, delete, area copy) and adding or deleting pages — a deleted page comes back with its writing.
• Erasing the other person's writing can be undone reliably.
• When the other person erases or moves your writing, it no longer counts as your own step: your undo and redo keep working.
• Adding or deleting a page no longer clears your undo history.
iCloud backup
• Your documents and writing are backed up to your own iCloud. If you delete and reinstall the app, they come back.
1.0.8 28 Sept
Sticky notes
• On iPhone and on iPad without Apple Pencil you can now write on sticky notes with your finger. Tap the small handle in the corner to move or resize a note.
Highlighter
• The highlighter has its own thickness (tap it a second time) and remembers its own colour — it starts yellow, and your pen keeps its colour.
Erasing
• Scribble-to-erase now also removes the other person's writing in shared lessons.
• Shapes straightened with draw-and-hold can be erased again.
Settings
• Your mode, name, language and pen settings are backed up to your iCloud. If you delete and reinstall the app, they come back.
• On iPad with Apple Pencil, finger drawing now starts off, so your palm doesn't leave marks.
For teachers
• A Students list: pick a student when you send homework instead of typing a name.
1.0.7 26 Sept
Sticky notes
• Put a sticky note on any page in nine colours. Write on it with Apple Pencil — the eraser, highlighter and pen colours all work on it too.
• Tap a note with your finger to move it or resize it from any side or corner; tap the page and it sticks in place.
• The lasso works inside a note, and undo / redo covers everything you do to notes.
• In shared lessons, notes appear on the other device as well.
Selecting and copying
• Rectangle lasso, and the free lasso now keeps the outline you drew.
• Copy any area of the page — the PDF, your ink, images and notes — as one image you can drag anywhere.
• Duplicated selections stay selected, so you can move the copy straight away.
Navigation
• A page indicator in the corner: tap it to jump to any page.
• Smoother sidebar that no longer opens by itself when you open or close a document.
1.0.6 26 Sept
Shared lessons
• Undo and redo now cover the other person's handwriting. If a stroke is erased or moved, either side can take it back — and both copies stay in step.
• The eraser now has the same precision on the other person's ink as on your own. It no longer started erasing while still a couple of millimetres away from the line.
Writing
• Pen thickness (Thin / Medium / Thick) has moved under the pen itself: tap the pen a second time, just like the eraser size. The choices are far easier to hit — the whole cell is tappable now, not only the dot and the label.
Fixes
• Homework links could fail to open on older iPadOS versions with a "data couldn't be read" message. Fixed.
1.0.5 24 Sept
New: Exam Room. A teacher picks a PDF, a start time and a duration, and can send the link whenever they like. Until the exam starts the student sees only a countdown; the PDF opens right on time, closes when time is up, and the student's work goes to the teacher. The time comes from the server, so changing the device clock doesn't open an exam early.
Students can ask to be reminded before an exam, from 5 minutes to a day ahead. Finished exams move to an Exam Archive that shows which were taken and which were missed; teachers see who opened each exam and whether it was handed in. If a teacher cancels an exam, the student's countdown stops and the exam is marked as cancelled.
When assigning homework or an exam you can add who it is for, and the name appears next to it in your library.
The library has a new menu beside New: grid or list view, sorting by date created, date modified, name or type, and Select Items to move or delete several at once. Folders are now simple glossy colours, and the list uses the full width of the screen.
The sidebar shows homework waiting, your next exam and the exam archive at a glance. Student and teacher mode have moved to a new Account page behind your initials at the top right, and the mode you choose stays until you change it.
Tabs no longer scroll sideways: they all stay on screen and shrink evenly, each keeps its close button, and the open tab stands out.
In a shared lesson, erasing the other person's writing is smoother and keeps up with the pencil.
Shared lessons keep the two copies in step. Adding or deleting a page now survives a dropped connection, drawings sent under an older page layout no longer land on the wrong page, and returning to the app no longer tears the connection down when the lesson has simply been quiet. The lasso selects and moves both people's writing, and only the erase lasso erases. The other person's ink is drawn at the zoom you are looking at instead of being stretched.
A side pocket whose PDF was deleted now offers to pick a new file or remove itself, instead of opening an empty space.
1.0.4 23 Sept
You can now pick the app's language from inside the app. The Language row in the sidebar switches between Turkish and English without touching your device settings, and the English translation is complete.
A lasso selection can be turned: drag the round handle below it.
Lasso erasing works on both sides of a shared lesson. Circle the other person's writing and it goes from their copy too.
A PDF that arrives by AirDrop, or one sitting in Files, opens straight into MyDeepNotes — the app now appears in the Open With list.
When sharing fails, the app says why. A file over the 50 MB limit is caught before the upload starts, and slow connections are given longer.
Three-finger tap now redoes, without the system shortcut bar getting in the way. The trash list no longer stutters.
1.0.3 21 Sept
Pages now go to a trash you can recover from. A page you throw away keeps its handwriting and its images, and you can put it back where it was whenever you like. The trash never empties itself.
Adding and removing pages no longer shifts your writing — when a page is inserted or taken out, every other page keeps its own ink.
The add-page button now takes you to the new page, and your zoom stays where you left it.
Page deletion works in a shared lesson: a page removed on one device is removed on the other.
After one stroke with the eraser, the pen comes back on its own.
1.0.2 18 Sept
Shared lessons now sync both ways — what each side writes appears on the other device as it happens.
Reopening the app catches you up: anything written while you were away is there when you come back.
Homework tracking now marks a page as worked on whoever did the writing, so a page you went over together counts too.
Bigger eraser sizes, up to more than twice the old maximum.
Fixed: dragging a lasso selection to move it.
