Repeating tasks, a Kanban board for any folder, colored columns, and a clear top edge on iOS 27. • Tasks can repeat. Touch and hold a task in Tasks and choose Repeat…, or type @repeat:weekly. Check it off and the next one appears with its new date and its subtasks unticked; Skip this time moves it on without doing it. • Remind… puts a reminder on a task, and the ZenNotes desktop app delivers it. • New Kanban makes a board of its own, from New… or by touching and holding a folder in Browse. Add cards in each column, and touch and hold a card to move it. • Give a Kanban column a color: touch and hold its header and choose Color…. • Settings fields that name a folder now list your vault's folders as you type. • In Week view, the calendar's arrows step one week at a time. • New bullets stay together without blank lines, and Return on an empty bullet ends the list, so what you type next is its own paragraph. • A tap no longer leaves a row or header highlighted, and menus open without a row already lit. • In a database Table, long names stay clear of the Open button, the select boxes keep their room, and + Row and the menu stay on screen. • On iOS 27, the pale band at the top of the screen is gone, and views run to the bottom edge. • A Settings field near the bottom of the screen moves above the keyboard, and Back from a task's note returns to Tasks. Swimlanes, subtasks and WIP limits on the Kanban board, quieter task lists, and templates kept as notes in a folder of your vault. • Split the Kanban board into lanes by priority, folder or tag: tap View, then pick a Lanes option. Tap a lane's name to fold it away. • A task's indented subtasks now sit inside its card, with a progress bar such as 2/3 · 66%. Tap the bar to see them and tick them off right on the card. • Touch and hold a board column's header and choose Set WIP limit… to cap it. With more cards than the limit, the column turns red. • Empty checkboxes, like the ones a daily note template leaves, stay out of Tasks, the Calendar and the Home Screen widgets. Tap the hidden count to see them, or turn off Hide empty tasks in the View menu. • Keep templates as ordinary notes in a folder: Settings, Templates, Template folder. They show up when you make a note from a template, and their checkboxes and text stay out of Tasks and search. • Touch and hold a folder in Browse and choose Open as Gallery to see its notes as cards. • If ZenNotes Cloud refuses one file, the rest of your vault keeps syncing, and Settings, Cloud says what to do with that file. A Calendar widget for your Home Screen, notes that open ready to read, a Gallery for every folder, cover images on notes, and math in your diagrams. • Add the ZenNotes Calendar widget to your Home Screen: the month with your writing dots and week numbers, and the day's tasks below with a box to tick (turn on Daily notes under Settings, Vault, Periodic notes). The large size shows a day; on iOS 27 the extra-large size shows the whole week. A tick shows at once, the day's count drops with it, and it lands in the note the next time you open the app. • Notes open ready to read. Open one from Home, Browse, a list, a link, a search, a widget or the command palette, or go back to it, and it shows rendered with the keyboard down: tap the text when you want to type. Closing the command palette, running a toggle from it, or coming back to the app leaves the keyboard down too. • Open a folder as a Gallery: its notes as cards, each led by its cover image. Run Open Folder Gallery from the command palette, and tap a card to read its note. • A note's cover image shows across its top, as on the desktop. In Edit mode its cover lines fold into one quiet line; tap it to edit them. • Database tables choose the columns each view shows, pick rows to show only those, and make new table views or copies of a view with the + button. • Turn a paragraph into a callout, change its type or remove it with Set Callout Type and Remove Callout in the command palette. • Tap a code block's language label to pick its language. A block without one shows the language it detects. • Typing in a note you just named goes under its title, and an empty task indented with Tab keeps what you type after its checkbox. • Leave the Quick Note prefix blank in Settings and new quick notes are named with just the time and date. • The Tasks filter finds a task note by a tag written anywhere in its text. • Mermaid diagrams typeset $$ math in their labels, and text on a colored node stays readable in light and dark themes. • Done and the back button close a PDF opened as a reference and leave you on your note. • The Daily, Weekly and Monthly Notes folders show once in the drawer instead of twice. • Ticking a task in a note saved with Windows line endings ticks the right task. Tags that find the idea, a calendar one tap from Home, any due date for a task, and a ZenNotes Cloud that copes with slow networks. • Open a tag and each note lists the ideas inside it that carry the tag: the list item, paragraph or heading section. Tap one to open the note right there. • Search with a #tag shows each note's tagged ideas too. • The circle opens the Calendar even with no note open, and a second tap on a day opens or creates that day's note. • Moving the open note to the Trash takes you Home instead of to an older note. • Long-press a task and pick Choose a date… for a month calendar: a tap on a day sets it. • A task without a due date waits under No due date instead of in Today, and the Tasks list can put high priority first. • ZenNotes Cloud notices a stalled connection after 30 seconds instead of five minutes and tries again, catches up on many changes faster, and opens a conflict review at once. Choosing the other device's version no longer removes a note this iPhone kept. • Links in lists and tables look like links, and a code block in a note saved on Windows no longer shows up as tags. • Sheets, search and Settings stay clear of the home indicator, and in landscape of the camera housing. New notes and tasks that open at once, note search that shows each note's folder, and note links in table cells. • A new note, quick note or task is there as soon as you tap: it no longer waits for the whole vault to be read again first, which large vaults notice most. • Note search shows the folder each result lives in, so notes that share a name are easy to tell apart. • Typing [[ in a table cell opens the same note picker as in a paragraph. • A note several folders deep keeps its title readable in the header, and renaming it shows the whole name from the start. Pages for every database record, links that make a day's daily note, and long notes that draw right away. • Create pages for all records: from a database's ⋯ menu, give every record its page at once, so each one can be linked from your notes. A page file already in the folder under a record's name is linked instead of copied. • Following a link to a day that has no note yet, such as [[2026-11-03]], creates that day's daily note in your daily notes folder, from your template, so the calendar shows it on that day. • An edited Daily Note template fills new daily notes again, instead of leaving them with only a title. • Long notes draw correctly as soon as they have loaded: code, lists, highlights, links and task chips no longer stay half styled. • A collapsed callout far into a long note starts folded. Task folders, Cloud messages you can act on, and your vaults back in Settings. • Task folders: choose the folders your tasks live in, and only their checkboxes feed Tasks, the boards and the calendars. Every other checkbox stays a plain checkbox. Set them under Settings, Tasks. • Every ZenNotes Cloud problem now says what happened, whether it was on Cloud's side or yours, and what to do, with the technical details a tap away. • A device away from Cloud for months catches up by itself, keeping the edits you made while it was away. • Settings, Vault lists your vaults again, with New Vault and Manage, so you can add a self-hosted server from Settings as well as from the menu. • On an iPad, Settings rows that squeezed their label into a column of single words now put the control under the label. • A math or code block you open inside a callout keeps every line in the callout. • A pasted screenshot is named for the moment you pasted it, instead of image.png. Diagrams draw faster and in your theme. • Mermaid diagrams now draw with a new renderer: faster, and in your theme's colours. Your notes stay as they are. • D2 diagrams: a d2 code block draws an architecture diagram, with boxes inside boxes, labelled connections and data models. • On the Kanban board grouped by a custom status, finished task notes stay in their Done column. • Leaving the reading view puts you on the list item you were reading, not at the start of a long list. • Nested lists line up with their guides in a proportional font. Your last edit reaches your other devices, even when you leave right away. • Leaving ZenNotes now finishes the ZenNotes Cloud sync first: the note you just wrote is sent within a few seconds, instead of waiting until you open ZenNotes again. Settings → Cloud → Sync in the background turns it off. • Converting a table to a database in a long note offers the heading right above the table as its name. Start a note right where you are. • Browse has a New note row: it starts a note inside the folder you are looking at, with its title ready to type. • A ZenNotes Cloud vault that another device encrypted end to end now says so, and stops syncing the old copy, instead of asking you to update. • An encrypted vault shows its real name as soon as you unlock encryption, and its backups tell you where to save an archive. • Settings search offers only the settings this device has, and on iPad the keyboard shortcuts list only keys that work here. • Renaming or moving a note keeps an assistant's pending edits with it, for review on your computer. Editing and reading fixes. • Indenting from the toolbar no longer turns a heading into a code block. Headings stay at the margin while the rest of the selection indents. • A table whose column widths were set on your computer keeps them when you read it here, and scrolls sideways when it is wider than the screen. • Clearer wording in the app's settings, help and notices. ZenNotes Cloud fixes. • Cloud sync, backup restores and conflict reviews now work on iOS 15.0 to 15.3, where they could stop before saving or downloading a change. • Disconnect in Settings › Cloud now also ends this iPhone's access on ZenNotes Cloud, so it no longer stays listed under Connected apps in your account. Publish notes with more pictures. • A note published to the web can now carry up to 50 attachments and 100 MB, up from 20. • Attachments upload straight from your vault before the note goes live, and a note over a limit tells you what to change before anything is sent. New notes, quick notes and tasks are one tap away. • Tap the circle: Quick, Note and Task now sit along the bottom, one tap each, with + for templates, databases and folders. • New task is in the Create sheet too, and a task you add says "Task added" with a button to open it. Long labels in Mermaid diagrams wrap instead of being cut off. • A diagram label longer than about 200 pixels now wraps onto two or three lines and reads in full, in the editor and in Preview. • The first-run screen and the Welcome note read more clearly. Start a list under a paragraph, and the paragraph stays a paragraph. • Typing - on the line under a paragraph no longer turns that paragraph into a heading in the editor, the outline or Preview. --, --- and === under a line still make a heading. • The in-app help is up to date. Folders show everything in them, and notes stay put while you scroll. • Browse lists a folder's files as well as its notes, so pictures, PDFs and other attachments open from the folder they live in. • Scrolling a note in Edit mode stays where you scroll instead of jumping back to the cursor. • Ubuntu Sans and Ubuntu Sans Mono are built in. • You can keep several Files folders as vaults, each in the vault list. • A note keeps its creation date when you rename it. • A file that has not reached this device yet says so in the note, and turns into the picture or player when it arrives. • Kanban columns can be ordered by due date: choose Order next to Group by. • Settings → Cloud opens on what needs you, says why an automatic backup was skipped and which plan limit a backup hit, and a restored note no longer leaves a copy behind. • Fixed: a dated link like [[2024.01.15]] opens its note. ZenNotes Cloud now tells you what it is waiting on, right where you are. • When the same note changes on two devices, the note says so across its top with a Review button, and a notification appears once. A row at the bottom of the screen stays while Cloud needs you. • A file too large for Cloud is named: the note shows "Not synced to Cloud" under it, and the status row says how many files are affected. • Attached videos, audio and PDFs appear in the note as a player or document instead of a link, in Edit and Read mode. • Deleting a Cloud vault asks you to type its name, and your other devices say "Cloud vault deleted" instead of quietly stopping. • Choosing a new Files folder for a vault asks before it replaces the one you have. • Backups list every file, and search covers the whole backup. • Fixed: syncing no longer leaves stray empty folders next to notes at the top of a vault, and a 10 GB plan shows as 10 GB. Lists, tasks and callouts now fold. • Keep a long task note to one line per task. Bullets, numbered items and tasks with indented details can collapse in Edit and Read. Folding leaves your Markdown and checkbox states alone. • Callouts support [!note]- to start collapsed and [!note]+ to start expanded. Tap the title in Read, or its chevron in Edit, to bring the details back. Existing callouts stay expanded. • When Cloud finds vault settings that differ from another device, the choice now fits the screen, so its buttons are always within reach. • Atlas gives newly linked notes room beside the notes they connect to and separates linked notes that older layouts piled together. • Note opening hands focus to the editor more reliably, and refreshes preserve open notes with unsaved text. The shared 2.56.1 core: a vault can carry a name of its own. • Rename Vault… (the ••• sheet, All commands…) or the Vault name field in Settings names a vault for the drawer and the vault switcher. The folder keeps its name; an empty name goes back to it. The name lives in the vault's own vault.json, so a vault named on the desktop shows that name here too. • The vault switcher marks the vault that is open by its folder, whatever it is called, and shows each vault by the name it goes by. • A Markdown table in a note converts into a database the note links to (Convert Table to Database… in the command palette). • Settings search reaches every setting, including where new tasks go, and a hit opens the tab the setting is on. • A task added from the calendar panel joins the note's Tasks section. • In Preview, a code block inside a task stays under the task's text. • Undo after the open note changed on disk (a sync, for one) no longer saves a text nobody wrote. • Help reads as one page. • App core 2.56.1, shared with the desktop and Android apps. The shared 2.55.0 core, and nothing keyboard-only left on the phone. • The New note form (Search, then the Create "what you typed" row) no longer shows keyboard hints in its footer. It holds Back and Create and nothing else. • Nothing on screen names a Vim editor key any more: no ring around the sidebar after a tap, no letter chip on the row under the cursor, no j/k strips in the connections and comments panels, no letter badges under a comment. Vim mode is a desktop feature this app never turns on. • Renaming a note from its title to a name that an older, since-moved note once had now goes through instead of failing silently, and a rename that cannot happen says why. • Move… offers your own folders by their names, with the notes root on top. • App core 2.55.0, shared with the desktop and Android apps. Search creates the note you typed, plus app core 2.54.1. • Search notes (the circle, then Search) now ends its list with Create "what you typed". Tap it and a New note form opens with the name filled in: pick the folder (type a path such as projects/ideas, or leave it in Inbox), add tags from the vault's list or type new ones, then tap Create. The note opens with its heading and its tags on the line under it. If a note with that name already lives in that folder, the form says so and lets you change the name or open the existing note instead. • The first tap on Create counts even while a tag is still typed in the Tags field and not yet added. It used to take a second tap. • The form's header keeps its "in Inbox" label clear of the Cancel button. • Following a wikilink no longer leaves its target sitting in the footer of the note it opened. • Leaving Reading mode opens the editor at the part you were reading instead of where the cursor last was. • With Live Preview off, the YAML header at the top of a note is shown as plain text, not in heading type. • A note whose text returns to exactly what is on disk is not written again, so its modified time and the sync stay untouched. The app launches on iOS 27 again, Favorites come to the home screen, plus app core 2.53.0. • Fixes a crash at launch on iOS 27. Versions 1.10.0 and 1.10.1 quit immediately on iOS 27 because they had not adopted Apple's scene-based app life cycle. Your notes were never affected. • A Favorites section on the home screen lists your favorite notes under Recent. Add or remove the open note with the circle button, then More, then Add to Favorites, or long-press a note in Browse. Favorites are the vault's list, shared with the desktop app. • Long-press a folder or database in Browse and choose Move to… to move it into another folder. Open tabs, folder icons, favorites, and custom order come along. • Tapping a heading or block link in Reading mode now scrolls to it in Reading mode instead of switching to Edit. Back returns to where you were reading. • Dismiss keyboard now keeps the keyboard down for the tap that follows. • Each note keeps its own undo history when you switch between notes, and renaming or moving the note you are editing keeps your place and your undo history. • In the wikilink picker, typing | accepts the highlighted note and starts the display text. • Searches opened from the command palette keep your typing in the search field instead of the note. • Opening Settings no longer raises the keyboard. • The template editor stacks the editor above the preview on the phone. • Cloud: when two devices changed the vault's settings, sync asks right away and lets you pick a side per setting. A sync that fails midway keeps what already landed instead of repeating it on every retry. • A task added to a past daily note after today's note was opened now rolls over on the next open. • Settings > About gains Version details with a Copy button for bug reports. • iPad: each note can remember its own side panels (turn off Keep panels when switching notes in Settings > Editor), the note stays readable when panels do not fit, and Escape ends a Vim block edit. Safer file moves, smarter Cloud recovery, and app core 2.51.0. • Moving, renaming, trashing, or deleting notes and folders now finishes completely or not at all. Comments and database files travel with their folder. • A menu, gesture, or confirmation left open while you switch vaults no longer acts on the new vault. • If a linked Cloud vault is deleted from another device, the phone unlinks only that vault, keeps your local notes, and preserves unsent conflict drafts. • Typing [[ inside code no longer opens the wikilink picker. • Bracketed text that is not a link reads as ordinary prose. • Rolling a daily note forward no longer creates empty tasks. • Forwarded and cancelled tasks stay off every Kanban board. • Templates can show a live modified date that follows the note's last save. • Notes keep pointing at attachments after they are renamed or moved.
