This is the official app for BoardGameGeek, an online resource and community that aims to be the definitive source for board game and card game content. Daily new content, continuously updated by millions of passionate users, makes ‘the Geek’ the largest and most up-to-date place to get gaming information. You can become a registered member of BoardGameGeek (BGG) for free, and we welcome your contributions in the form of ratings, reviews, and thoughts on games!

BGG features reviews, ratings, images, play-aids, translations, and session reports from board game geeks around the world, as well as live discussion forums.

Here you’ll find many types of board games, including thousands you’ve probably never seen in a store. We cover not only board games but also dice games, card games, tile-laying games, and games of dexterity. We have abstracts, economic games, dungeon crawls, city building, diplomacy and negotiation, trading, puzzle games, strategy games, party games, war games, and many more. We run the gamut from the light and whimsical Carcassonne to the serious and heavy empire-building of Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition. Well-known games like Monopoly exist in the database as well, although you’ll find almost all users prefer modern games that exhibit advancements in game play and component quality since Monopoly was first published.

• Warns when email still needs to be verified, can resend verification email.
• Fixes jumping to blog post comment from subscriptions, and improves comment browsing.
• Fixes Blog Post's View in Browser link. Fixes board game's Blog and News links.
• Improved forum article formatting with font sizes.

Improving

It’s constantly improving, which is very nice to see. I’m improving my rating to 4 stars (can’t figure out how to edit an older review).

Recently (last few months) an update added a bit that adds large blank space under some comments, which makes it hard to read threads.

It would also be very nice to see polls added. Those are usually quite fun interactions, and jumping to the browser version to participate is a bit clunky.

And viewing a (different) user’s profile page is very bare-bones compared to the web version. Not even their write-up is displayed.

Steadily improving

I’ve been using this app since the beta and it’s been great to watch the developers make decisions about what works and what doesn’t. I have every confidence that it will continue to improve but — right now — it’s everything I need in an app version of BGG, especially on the iPhone.

So why not 5 stars? Because I want to see the refinements continue!

Too many issues

Crashes often, less functionality than website, certain things not working. Frustrating really.
