Frugus ,

One of the best tools for miniature painters.

Personally speaking, this is still the best app I’ve seen to help with my miniature painting endeavours.

When I buy a bunch of paints, I can do a rapid scan of the bar codes - it works very well and lets me inventory all my purchases with only a few seconds, I just swipe them all as if I was at a self checkout. Bonus, it lets you know if you already had any given colour.

I have a large collection of paints spanning through various brands and this manages them without any issues. The lists appear to be updated regularly, to a point that whenever I buy a something that just came out, I don’t tend to worry if it’s possible to add it yet.

I especially like the tools which let you compare or analyze colours. You can use picture references and pick spots to find matches, be it for specific colours against paints you already own or otherwise. No more buying a given paint just because someone mentioned an unknown shade they used on a project that I want to emulate - I can look for it and compare it to what I own and see if I have something that’s close enough.

That’s what I use the most from this app but there is so much more, like recipies that you can jolt down for processes that you often use.

Great way to track your paints and finding substitute colours

This app is a great way to track your collection of paints and to find paint substitutions for colours mentioned in painting guides.

I only rated it 4/5 stars because the tool for matching colours isn’t always very accurate in my experience. I understand it’s challenging to flatten all colour data on the same scale but a circular or spherical colour matching chart may be more useful for accuracy.

I strictly use the colour matching to get ideas for paint substitutes then I’ll do my own research online and actually test paints in my collection to see what I think.

It’s still a handy tool no matter what and worth the one time asking price. I strongly recommend the app just know there are flaws with the paint finder.

Handy tool, could sort better

This is a very handy app to track which paints you have, what you need/want to buy, and track your recipes (paint sets) for different things like a dark worn wood, etc. I have something for books and was thrilled to find a similar thing for paint.

Super pleased at all of the brands it will track (including craft paints), as well as mediums, pigments, etc. I don’t just use one brand so the fact that I can add them all is super great.

Would like an easier way (one button to click from main menu) to see which paints I own so I can more easily determine where there are gaps needing to be filled while shopping for paint. Easier than running a filter for it in the library that is, which you can already do. I am not always going to remember to add things to my wish-list ahead of time, so a quick way to see paints I already own with just one click while I’m out and about browsing the game store would be awesome.

Also when sorting the library of paints I own by colour it’s not really doing it that well. I feel like it is sub-sorting by type of media first (model paint, airbrush paints, washes, etc.). If I choose to sort by colour, I’d think it should first sort by colour (for example, all the reds) then it could sort the reds by type of media if needed. But when I choose colour it sort of sorts first by type and then colour which to me seems backwards and strange. I say sort of because it put some blacks and dark greys in where the reds and pinks are which seems odd. Being able to sort by type would be a nice addition, for example if I just wanted a look at all my transparent paints or just washes. I feel like it’s trying to do both sort by type and sort by color with one mechanism making it a less than helpful way to sort things.

But those issues will detract terribly from me making good use of the app overall. I do feel it could be more helpful in those areas, but overall will still enjoy it as it is.

This is quite handy!!!
