Mountain Duck lets you mount server and cloud storage as a disk on your desktop. With Smart Synchronization, files are synchronized to the local disk when opened to allow offline usage and changes are uploaded in the background as soon as a connection is available. Open remote files with any application and work like on a local volume. Transfer files using Finder to remote servers, fast. Select files and folders to always keep offline on your computer. Other files are downloaded and cached on demand only and otherwise do not take space on your local disk. Encryption for data at rest using Cryptomator interoperable vaults prevent unauthorized access regardless of the server or cloud storage infrastructure.
Based on the solid open source foundation of Cyberduck, all major protocols are supported to connect to just about any server you want. Including FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Azure Cloud Storage, Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Google Drive, Dropbox, Backblaze B2 & OpenStack Swift.

You can keep the subscription
Mrs. Feather Bottom
Have been using this for years, and very happy with it. Now you want a subscription. No thanks. Uninstalled.
Developer Response
You are eligible to run version 5 with no limitations for up to one year after your purchase date before you are required to purchase a monthly or yearly subscription. We never advertised a "lifetime" license, but have been unable to charge for major updates in the Mac App Store in contrast to licenses purchased from our website. We published regular free upgrades for the last 10 (!) years in the Mac App Store, but you will understand this is not sustainable for our business when maintaining and adding new features to the software. You are welcome to request a free license from our support to run Mountain Duck 4 available from our website if you don't want to upgrade at this time.
Poor business decision
lacasseio
It is not the customer’s fault for a poor business decision. I was really happy with Mountain Duck perpetual license or having to pay new license per major version. I took a long time to decide to buy the license given the track record of high quality. However, the switch to a subscription saying that “previous users can run V5 up to one year” or “we offer free update for the last 10 years”, is not the customer’s fault. I’m subscription fatigue and this switch was unacceptable. Use CloudMounter or other open-source solution instead.
Developer Response
Auto-unlock of vaults can be enabled in Preferences… → Cryptomator.
Bait and Switch

Here’s the Mountain Duck was: purchase the software and then switch to a subscription model, forcing old users to re-pay every year.No thank you. Unfortunately I can’t give 0 stars.
Developer Response
The Mac App Store does not allow to charge for major versions updates which is required for a sustainable business model. Therefore we decided to change to a subscription as the only viable alternative.
hangs time to time

Hangs time to time, so I have to kill the process. After that can’t open app, need to reboot MacOS. Otherwise good app.
