GrandPerspective is a small utility application that graphically shows the disk usage within a file system. It can help you to manage your disk, as you can easily spot which files and folders take up the most space.
Disk usage is visualised using tree maps. Each file is shown as a rectangle with an area proportional to the file's size. Files in the same folder appear together.
Configurable display of views:
• Color files by their: name, extension, file type, parent folder, top folder, level in the folder hierarchy, creation time, modification time, or last access time

I wish there was a turorial on how to use it. I've read the rave reviews, Googled "how to use Grand Perspective", but I'm not seeing how to effectively use it.I was hoping it would make finding obsolete files a cinch so that I could delete them.But I'm not getting it: I just see a tonne of unlabeled coloured squares.

This app is essential for any Mac user. It’s a great way to see what is taking up space and what can go. Cleaned up nearly 50gigs of outdated LLM, was able to see the types of files that can be cleaned. It is just fabulous.

I love keeping my hard drive lean n’ mean, and I also actually enjoy doing that manually. This app let’s me quickly locate the FAT and potentially BLOATED files that I can probably thin out a bit. And it does it in a very pleasing visual way. I’ve been using GrandPerspective for years now, and I’m glad its in digital toolbox~!
