Version 1.5.1 of the EForWasteBC software would encompass aligning the BC Coast Area residue and waste methodology with the interior survey methods as well as adding a new survey methodology called the 'packing ratio'. These updates will aid in capturing more precise logging waste and residue information on the coast and interior of BC. Accurate waste volume reporting will allow for the development of incentives for licensees to improve wood utilization standards. Improving wood utilization reduces the need to log old growth forests, reduces the potential for wildfire occurrences with less fuel available to burn and reduces the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere.

Bug fixes to the coastal volume summaries and report format

EForwasteBC has undergone a significant number of enhancements in Version 1.2.0 designed to speed up data entry, improve user experience and generate reports. · The plot data screen has been significantly improved with a ‘Quick entry’ feature · A number of new edit checks and warnings have been added · The merge function has been improved · Reports now generate the correct information · Export functions have been improved · The Block listing screen can now be sorted by each header item · Ratio survey measure and prediction plots are colour coded · Piece number errors generated by the Online Waste System can now be identified in the app. · The stratum name fields have been reorganized into a more efficient order · Many other screen formatting and bug fixes

This update fixes a number of bugs identified by users shortly after the first release. 1) The plot and stratum volume and value summary has been improved. The new plot volume summary shows the plot grade 1/2, Green 4 volume and the Dry Grade 4(Grade 5) volume which are compared directly to the Prediction ‘Green’ and ‘Dry’ Volume. This information can be used to improve the plot predictions. 2) A bug was identified when exported files were transferred from one iPad to another where the prediction volumes changed to ‘0’. 3) When the xml file was created the prediction plots were included in the file and transferred to the waste system. The prediction plots should not be transferred to the waste system. NOTE: - Existing files must be backed up by email or external down load prior to installation of this update - The update requires removal of the old version prior to installation of the update.
