Big improvement

After spending (a lot) more time with v4 , I’m raising my rating. Both iOS versions are actually a big improvement over v3, with lots of useful layout options now. The changes are pretty drastic, so be prepared to put in some time. But it’s definitely worth persisting. I’m not as happy with v4 Mac yet - but hopefully that will get better.

Defer dates don’t roll over

Defer dates really need an option to automatically roll over to the current day if their defer date has passed.

Or at least show past defer dates in forecast “past”.

I.e I have 9 tasks due Friday and want to plan on working on 3 per day I use defer dates. If I don’t finish one task on a day I have to go looking for it in the project list, then update the defer date to today. Simple enough with just 9 tasks but with multiple projects and deadlines it’s way too easy for something to slip through the cracks.

So far so good

I've used OF3 for a few years, going between Todoist and OmniFocus. The update to version 4 compelled me to give it another try.

I find that OmniFocus works better with my way of working, where everything goes into the inbox quickly before being processed "in batch" (whenever I get ~5 minutes of free time). The updated way of tagging and the small UI updates are welcome.

The killer features for me are the "review" tab and the custom perspectives. Being able to customize the frequency of review and have a "work" and "non-work" mode is phenomenal.

From my way of working, OF4 provides only small updates vs. OF3, but the ability to pay once makes it very cost effective. The upgrade makes the review and inbox processing process much easier on the iPhone/iPad, so overall it's a win.
