For a long time I have been stuck on that ‘intermediate plateau’ – I understand a lot of French but have difficulty speaking. However, Langua has been extremely effective in helping me to move forward and actually talk. It’s so easy to have a stress-free casual conversation without being embarrassed or feeling rushed. In addition, there are many helpful features (such as preparing sessions focused on my weaknesses) that make this app an unusually helpful teaching tool. Over the course of my extensive French-learning journey Lanqua is without question the best app I have ever used.

This app is not as advertised. When I speak it has no idea what I’m saying. I don’t see how the reviews are so wonderful. I had high hopes but don’t waster your time. The help article essentially says it’s glitchy and hallucinates. The entire purpose of this is to have a conversation which is impossible when the AI thinks I am always saying thank you.

I use this app in conjunction with other activities, it is great because you can just talk to it and you don’t have to worry about making a mistake. One of the hardest parts about learning a language is between your ears, this helps me just to get comfortable with talking.
