The missing link for Obsidian task management on desktop and mobile
Benedict867
If you use Obsidian as your second brain, task management on mobile or as a quick desktop widget has always been the clunkiest part of the workflow. TaskForge completely solves this problem. What makes TaskForge stand out is that it isn't trying to lock you into a proprietary database or replace your Markdown vault. It reads and writes directly to plain text files using the same syntax as the Obsidian Tasks and TaskNotes formats. **What works exceptionally well:**Native Performance: Fast, polished, and feels built specifically for macOS and iOS rather than a heavy web wrapper. **Widgets & Quick Access:** Being able to view, check off, and capture tasks directly from desktop or home screen widgets without launching full Obsidian is a massive time-saver. **Considerations:**Premium features (like custom interactive widgets and advanced filtering) require a paid upgrade, though the lifetime option is a welcome alternative to endless subscriptions. Overall, if you want quick mobile/desktop capture and native widgets without compromising your Markdown-first philosophy, TaskForge is an essential addition to your setup.
Love it.

Super useful app, beautiful UI, incredible number of configuration options. The tight native integration for MacOS+iOS made this the missing piece for me to fully migrate my personal task lists off of cloud services. The dev has been super responsive to bug reports - responded same day and had a partial fix out in the next patch. What else could you ask for!
Great app!

Money well spent. App works well, dev is responsive, and it has a one-time payment option. Very happy.
FINALLY
lupomancer
Finally, a task application that plugs in to obsidian that Just Works™️. I love managing tasks through obsidian because that’s where I keep all my important info, and being able to link to relevant data makes me life a hell of a lot easier than trying to use extensions to ferry info in and out of Todoist or something. This app is great, well made, very pretty (cutting a nice line between obsidian stylings and iOS stylings), and the developer has been extremely responsive to both my feedback and help requests. If someone likes obsidian, or likes TaskNotes, I 100% recommend they use this app (and have been doing so to my fellow Obsidian users). I’m excited for the potential desktop versions, though I don’t really need em as I can just use Obsidian, and I’m REALLY excited at potential future shortcuts integrations. Seriously. The final thing that would make this perfect is having a shortcut on my lock screen to quick-add a task, and some sort of “Add Task” action in iOS shortcuts so I can ferry my Apple reminders into Obsidian/TaskNotes/TaskForge. I used to use a shortcut that did exactly that for Todoist, and being able to say “Siri remind me of X” and have it end up on the cross-platform task system was such a godsend. Apps like TaskForge make me worry sometimes because it’s become SO integral to keeping my responsibilities and tasks organized that I preemptively dread the potential day when a developer understandably moves on from a project like this. Certainly no indication of that yet!I almost rated this four stars with a comment that I would change it to 5 stars when shortcut integration happened, but I can’t in good conscience lower the rating of a very very good app for my weird edge case.
