TapCook plans your dinners for the week and tells you what the groceries will cost before you leave the house.
Instead of deciding at 6pm, scrolling for ideas, and finding out the damage at the register, TapCook builds the week and the shopping list together — and keeps the total under the budget you set. Tick off the staples already in your cupboard and they come off the bill, this week and every week after. Don't like a dinner? Swap it and the list updates.
TapCook works with grocery stores in the US and Canada.
TapCook subscriptions are $9.99/month, or $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan. Prices are in US dollars; in Canada, you'll see your price in Canadian dollars before you subscribe.

While I see the potential of the app, it is made available to download in Canada but only allows you to enter a ZIP code when I have a Postal code (including letters). Therefore it does not accurately show local stores and prices for Canadians. Once it is truly accessible I would like to try it again.

Saw the app on social media and jumped on the idea but it won’t allow me to enter a postal code even though it apparently just launched for Canada soIt is useless.

I saw a TikTok of how this app was used to meal plan. The concept is fantastic I thought to myself, and the advertiser specifically said it was free so I jumped to the App Store and downloaded it immediately. ITS NOT FREE, in fact it’s QUITE expensive. The app makes you fill out a whole survey and right before it gives you the results BAM, paywall. I’m getting so tired of apps that do this. They trick you into filling out personal information (in this case your postal code) and a long list of other information, until the very end when they hit you with a non optional subscription. UGH I hold a special place for these apps - it’s called the garbage can. Save your money, close your purse strings and just ask Claude to look through any grocery store website you shop at, and create a meal plan under a certain budget. DEAR TAP COOK, had you just had a one time fee when downloading the app, me and PLENTY OF OTHERS would happily had paid upfront a couple bucks for the app. The 21st century loves to make everything a subscription that it gets to a point when you’re obviously not going to select ones that only provide one type of value and can’t be used daily. Game apps charge a small fee and MAKE MILLIONS bc ppl actually don’t mind paying a one time small fee. Get a new finance team please.
