aHalloween is here! From 15 October Songspot dresses up for Halloween, with a brand-new Halloween genre of 240+ spooky hits from Easy to Impossible, and a famous Halloween song every day in the Daily. • Sharper characters: every fight animation in Ranked is now in HD. • New Victory, Defeat and Draw banners at the end of a match. • Party and 1v1 round intros now look like Ranked. • Secret skins: redeem a code in Settings to unlock one. • Lots of small fixes and polish.

New premium page, a bigger cast of characters with their own dances, a cleaner Stats page, a friends menu with 1v1 invites that always land in the same room, and smarter search: type a song the way you remember it and Songspot finds it. Halloween Hits starts 15 October.

A new round intro in ranked: every decade is a wall of real albums from that decade, different every match. Parties: songs start at the exact same moment on every phone, the host can switch on Anti-Shazam, and the results show the top 10. Daily challenge: the first to name the song is number one, the song keeps playing after you guess, and the board shows the top 10 and your own place. Better search for songs, artists and soundtracks, Songbot in Easy, Hard and Impossible, and lots of fixes.

Play is instant. The first press after opening the app used to wait on Apple Music for a few seconds — now the song is ready before you can reach the button, and the ring only starts once you can actually hear it.

SOUND, FIXED Clips now play the moment you press. The first tenth of a second was being cut short before it made a sound, and a phone call, Siri or a screen recording could leave the game silent until you relaunched it. Both fixed. SONGS THAT WOULDN'T PLAY When a track wasn't in your country's Apple Music, the round went quiet. Songspot now finds the same song in your own catalogue and plays that instead. EVERY SONG AN ARTIST HAS Pick an artist and you get their whole catalogue, not the handful that ships with the game. One row per artist in the search, so nobody turns up twice. SMALLER THINGS Songspot no longer stops the music you were already listening to when it opens. Ranked says when a round can't play instead of running in silence, and pulling down Control Centre no longer mutes the next round.

RANKED MODE Five songs, one opponent, and a rating that moves with every result. Ranks run from Easy to Impossible, and the faster right answer always scores more. DAILY AND WEEKLY LEADERBOARDS Every ranked match banks points. A loss still counts what you scored, so playing well is never wasted. BIGGER PARTIES One room code now holds up to 50 phones instead of 10. THIRTY NEW GENRES Danish rap, UK rap, drill, Afrobeats, Britpop, K-pop, drum and bass, 90s hip-hop and more. Over 3,000 songs added. FASTER The genre and artist pickers open straight away and can be searched.

Party mode: host a room, share a five-letter code, and up to ten phones hear the same clip at the same moment. Fastest right answer scores the most. Profiles: sign in with Apple or Google, add a picture, and your stats follow you between phones. Delete everything from the Profile screen whenever you like.
