Picstructions 4+

App crashes on my iPad Mini2 (iOS 10) and unable to use.

Also, this app requires a user to create an account with a verified email address in order to use the app (even if the user will not be using this app to post a created picstruction to the developer's site).

The user has to log-in in order to use this app. Hence, what specific user data is this app mining (besides your IP address) while being used.

If you plan to use this (meaning, the app actually works for you), I suggest using this "Free" app with caution. I learned of this app on twit.tv. Is TWIT's iOS Today Show aware of this?

I apologize that our 7 month old app won't run on your 3 year old iOS. We don't have any devices that old to test on.
We collect email addresses so we can support lost passwords and we'd rather set up a potential account for the website at the beginning than build it into the final publishing screen. All of this information is in the privacy policy on the App Store or in the settings screen of the app. If you don't wish to receive any promotional info from us in the future all you have to do is switch the slider on the signup screen off. We don't mine anything, Picstructions is ad or in app purchase supported. If you don't think viewing an ad or paying the 99 cents is worth it for the value we provide, you are free to delete the app. Thanks.

I generally don’t do reviews. I like the concept that is laid out here. I have only worked on one project but I find it limited in its editing ability. If you want to reorder your images you are unable to do so. You are unable to insert an image between other images

Once you save the file and want to go back to make changes, any errors made in the text tool are committed. I haven’t been able to find a way to edit the text after saving it

I should give it 5 stars because if you plan your project ahead of time and the order in which your instructions are to appear, it is exactly what I need for the less than technical people around my house that require this type of instructions

I am using on an iPhone 8 Plus which was okay. I imagine it would be better on an iPad

Thanks for the quick response. Now that you have pointed out what I failed to investigate in my initial use of your App, I find it is much more to what I expected from the App (I heard about this from the Tech Guy Podcast where one of the developers was talking of it).

Now that I know I can move images around, it is much more flexible. As a result I will be buying the ad free App.

I understand the limitations of the RAM issue, so I am changing my rating to 4 stars. As I work on these type of projects not necessarily in one sitting, I would like to see that text can be edited after it has been saved. A minor quibble. We all expect the Apps to be perfect, but sometimes as consumers we don’t realize what limitations are put on the developers. Great Job!

actually you can reorder images on the preview screen. If you highlight the image and then press and hold you can drag and drop the image in its proper place. You can also press the + and go back to the import screen to add another image to your project, or you can tap the trash to delete the highlighted image.

Regarding the text tool, it is true you cannot go back to edit the text and it’s due to the RAM limitations forced on us by iOS. Using the Markup tool in iOS it is only dealing with one image at a time and we on the other hand, have potentially unlimited images in a single project. That is why we add any images you capture with the camera to the camera roll so you have a “clean copy” to start over with if you find you made a mistake.

As soon as picstructions.com goes live we will have more detailed tips and tricks for the app in our blog. Hope you will play around with the app a little more and re-evaluate your rating.
