Description
With the POSTIDENT app, you can verify your identity conveniently and simply by means of your smartphone.
Depending on which of our partner companies you carry out this identification process, you can verify your identity either via POSTIDENT by videochat, POSTIDENT by eID (with your national identity card or the electronic residence title), or fully automatically by creating images of your ID document and profile. With the eID function or the automated verification of your ID document you can verify your identity quickly and securely at any time. Your data will be checked by call center employees of Deutsche Post AG in all further identification procedures. Our employees are available to you from Mondays to Sundays in the hours from 8 AM to 10 PM. In addition, you can retrieve the POSTIDENT coupon for identification in your post office directly via the POSTIDENT app and therefore do not need to print it out anymore.
The identification procedures are compliant with the law, secure and completed in just a few steps. Simply enter the transaction number that you have received from either our partner company or us. The POSTIDENT app will then execute the procedure. At POSTIDENT by videochat, a Deutsche Post employee will explain additionally in detail how the procedure works.
The POSTIDENT app is optimized for iPads and iPhones with iOS 15 or higher.

Not in English
I tried to use this, because I got a letter from a German institution telling me I could use this app, and that the app was in both German and English. Well, it started out in English, but after I got as far as inputting my name, it switched to German, and since I don’t know German I can’t use it. It also annoyingly kept saying “available in English “ but without telling me how to change it to English.

It’s the Live on iPhones sending blurry Photos
Let’s use our heads here and think before we take any photos of identification documents with a souped up iPhone 11 to 13. It’s the too powerful “Live” feature that is making the administrators in Germany reject your application. A still photo is not being seen by the administrators, but rather a very shifty and consequently unclear photo. Result? The numbers are blurry on the necessary identification documents and your application is rejected by Germany.
How did I find out about this? A photo was sent to my friend in British Columbia of my positive rapid test result for COVID-19. It was taken with my iPhone 11 with the “Live” feature. Upon further examination, it became readily apparent that the red “Test” line was unclear/blurry, all because of the Live feature. My 6 year old iPad does not support “Live” and the photo, taken by it, was clear.
Also, why is a Canadian Permanent Resident Card (PRC) not recognized by the Postident app?
