Practify: Piano & Notes
Practice piano with feedback
$6.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Make piano practice count: MIDI or microphone, your own music, a playful Note Journey, and simple family connections using a QR code or link.
Practice piano with clear feedback. Practify helps you learn to read notes, work on difficult passages, and see your progress. Play at your own pace and bring your own sheet music.
FOCUS ON YOUR NEXT STEP
• Practice the right hand, left hand, or both hands.
• Repeat selected measures and adjust tempo, metronome, and practice goals.
• Start recommended difficult passages directly from the practice overview.
• Connect your MIDI instrument or use microphone mode with an acoustic piano.
Microphone analysis runs locally on your device. Your instrument, room, and background noise can affect recognition.
BRING YOUR OWN MUSIC
• Import MusicXML files or search for freely available scores.
• Recognize your own sheet music with the included companion Mac app over your local network.
• Review the result and correct recognized notes manually before practicing.
Scan quality depends on the source page and image. You can review recognized notes before saving them.
MAKE NOTE READING PLAYFUL
Match staff notes to their names in Note Pairs. The six stages of Note Journey introduce increasingly challenging tasks with both clefs, accidentals, and multiple octaves. Revisit familiar stages or practice in Free Play.
SEE YOUR PROGRESS
Plan practice days and reminders. Compare weeks and track active practice time, note accuracy, and playing flow. In-app help explains the main features step by step.
LEARN TOGETHER, SUPPORT EACH OTHER
Create separate practice profiles on a shared device. With optional private iCloud sharing, parents can view selected practice summaries from their child's device and help set goals. Connect using a QR code or invitation link, then explicitly confirm the invitation. An optional adult code protects profile management.
KEEP CONTROL OF YOUR DATA
Practify requires no Practify account and contains no ads or tracking. Practice data is stored locally. Only when family sharing is enabled are selected summaries shared through iCloud; audio, sheet music, and individual MIDI events are excluded. Microphone audio is not recorded automatically.
more Practice with a clear input choice and a more focused summary.
Improved
• Choose Bluetooth MIDI or Microphone explicitly. Practify remembers your choice and never switches inputs on its own.
• If your MIDI piano is unavailable, Play immediately shows a helpful message. Connect the piano or explicitly choose the microphone.
• The practice summary highlights note accuracy and effective practice time. Additional explanations are available under Details.
• Practice Again and End Practice are clearly separated. Repeating a round keeps the displayed practice time running, while time spent reading the summary is excluded. Progress and daily goals count each practice interval only once.
• Improved summary layout with larger text sizes.
Fixed
• MIDI management is retained when the app moves to the background. Active note inputs are still closed.

Choose clearly between Bluetooth MIDI, microphone, and automatic input. Guided practice sections are visible and ready before you press Play.
Improved
• Your Bluetooth MIDI choice is preserved when your piano is temporarily unavailable. Practify switches to the microphone automatically only when you select Automatic Input.
• Practice pauses if the MIDI connection is lost during a session explicitly started with MIDI.
• Guided practice sections are prepared as soon as you open a piece. Use Practice Entire Piece to return to the full piece locally without deleting your learning path. Family-managed settings remain protected.
• Family disconnect and sharing controls now sit in the child profile’s three-dot menu, keeping progress statistics and the tab bar accessible.
Fixed
• Opening another piece no longer carries over an endless loop from your previous practice session.

Setting up sheet music recognition on your Mac is simpler: send the installer, scan an access QR code, and bring your own music into piano practice.
New
• Name access permissions on your Mac and revoke them individually. Give each new device its own access using a QR code or AirDrop link, with no code to type.
Improved
• Two clear setup steps, a steady status indicator, and separate help make connecting easier to follow.
• Connections to your Mac are encrypted and verify its identity. Existing secure access is preserved when you update.
• Weekly progress shows practice time, accuracy, and recent sessions for the same period. Family profiles and sharing controls are easier to manage.
Fixed
• The Mac installer now includes all required components. Repair and uninstall options are available under Manage Service in the Mac setup assistant.
Please update the Mac companion app using the installer included in Practify.

Start practicing sooner and connect family devices more easily.
IMPROVED
• When no MIDI input is available, practice starts with the microphone after permission is granted, without waiting for a Bluetooth piano.
• Known Bluetooth pianos are searched for again at limited intervals while you practice. The input selector shows more clearly which input is ready to use.
• Error sounds, the metronome, and melody playback are prepared in the background to keep the interface responsive.
• Family invitations create a QR code without uploading the entire practice history first. You can cancel the dialog at any time and retry if the request takes too long.
1.23 Oct 2
Connect your Bluetooth piano using the new device list. Microphone recognition now starts in the background to help keep the interface responsive.
IMPROVED
• The Bluetooth list shows available instruments, scanning progress, and connection status. Connect, disconnect, or retry directly from the list.
• Scanning starts automatically after you first allow Bluetooth access, without reopening the list.
• Manual connections and automatic reconnection work together more reliably. Old, unavailable MIDI inputs are no longer treated as ready to play.
• A consistent adult-and-child symbol identifies the family area.
FIXED
• The new device list avoids a crash in the previous Bluetooth device-management dialog on iOS 27.
• Quick switches between microphone input, MIDI, and paused practice are handled more reliably.
1.22 Sep 23
Reconnect your Bluetooth MIDI piano more smoothly when starting or resuming practice and in Note Journey.
IMPROVED
• Practify gives your saved piano up to ten seconds to reconnect before offering microphone input. Practice starts once the MIDI input is ready.
• See the connection status while waiting, and retry without restarting the app.
• Automatic reconnection and Bluetooth device management now take turns, helping avoid interrupted connection attempts.
FIXED
• Switching input, leaving practice, or moving the app to the background cancels an earlier pending start.
• If microphone input is already selected, it stays selected without another Bluetooth warning.
• Percentage values in Help and family summaries follow the selected language.
1.21 Sep 15
Practice with clear feedback and see your progress with round summaries, daily lesson wrap-ups, and easier piano input in Note Journey.
NEW
• Your practice summary shows active and elapsed time, accuracy, playing quality, actual tempo, and steadiness. After a pause, continue from the same note.
• The optional daily lesson wraps up your pieces when you reach your time goal. You can choose to keep practicing afterward.
• Show live tempo and steadiness on the score. Families can view selected playing quality measurements and daily lesson summaries.
IMPROVED
• Connect a MIDI piano or microphone directly in Note Journey using the piano icon, settings, or pause menu.
• Switching apps pauses the game. Practify releases its Bluetooth MIDI piano in the background, and device management remains easy to reach.
• Select practice profiles consistently by tapping a name. Editing and private family invitations have a separate menu.
• Open MusicXML and MXL files in Practify through system file handling.
FIXED
• Note letters and chord names stay fully visible inside the sheet music.
• The practice timer remains readable in Dark Mode. The paused game stays visible after rotation, and percentages follow your language.

Practice and progress are now calmer and clearer. The compact practice bar, focused home screen, and precise weekly comparison keep what matters in view.
Improved
• The practice bar now stays stable and easy to scan on iPhone: correct and incorrect counters no longer shift the controls, while portrait and landscape layouts make better use of available space.
• The practice home screen leads straight to your next session with Continue and your current goal. Weekly comparisons, lifetime totals, difficult measures, and recent evaluations now live together under Progress.
• Lifetime totals are clearly separated from weekly trends. Compare weeks with arrows or a swipe while axes, spacing, and empty weeks remain stable and consistent.
• Entries without active practice time or evaluated notes no longer count as practice days. Accuracy and hand comparisons appear only when meaningful data is available.
• Local profiles, family connections to a child’s device, and the optional management code are now easier to distinguish.
Fixed
• Start Over reliably resets the lesson timer to 00:00.
• An incoming family request can no longer accidentally expose the active adult profile.

The new Note Journey turns confident note reading into one connected adventure—with clear stages, lively travel scenes, and a learning path that only moves on once each skill is genuinely secure.
New
• Six progressive stages lead from the first notes in both hands through both clefs to accidentals and two octaves.
• A sailboat, treasure island, whale, dragon, and castle bring progress to life in a hand-painted animated world.
• Every learning target returns at least twice, while uncertain notes are deliberately revisited. A fluent confirmation flight completes each stage.
• Note Journey and the relaxed Note Pairs game are directly available from Practice; Free Play remains available within the journey.
Improved
• Microphone, MIDI, and automatic input can be changed directly from the visible input indicator.
• Chords only count as correct once all expected notes are recognized together.
• Note names, fingerings, slurs, and ornaments stay clearer in dense scores without unnecessary overlap.
1.14 Aug 30
New photo search finds matching free piano scores directly from your sheet music—with safer previews, better collections, and clearer learning goals.
New
• Photograph or scan a page to find matching freely available practice scores and review the result before saving it.
• Edit fingerings directly in the score—ideal for teachers and personalized practice paths.
• Use your instrument in Note Sprint and set a personal weekly goal for your practice days.
Improved
• Recognized scores are checked before saving, more safely catching unreliable rendering, malformed timing, and incorrect matches.
• Exercise collections, condensed scores, and beginner annotations stay clear in demanding layouts.
• The library scrolls natively again, and linking protected family profiles is clearer and more robust.
Recognition reference values
• In the currently documented, limited internal field tests, scan recognition achieved about 67–97% pitch F1 depending on page quality; local microphone recognition was around 90% F1. These are reference values, not a guarantee for every capture.
1.10 Aug 28
A calmer practice flow and more reliable microphone evaluation.
• The cursor now follows the expected position more smoothly and stays at the correct note after a mistake.
• Brief red feedback shows a misrecognition without making the score jump.
• Simultaneous octave echoes such as D5/D6 are filtered against the score, while genuine written octaves remain intact.
• The Mac recognition assistant is signed, notarized by Apple, and supports Apple silicon and Intel.
• Clear guidance explains when MIDI, microphone recognition, or a reviewed scan is the best choice.
1.9 Aug 24
Note reading becomes a playful part of daily practice.

• Automatically follow your selected international B or German H note naming.
• Improve with separate, fair ratings for calm learning and speed.
• Correct answers stay calmly green; only mistakes produce haptic feedback.
1.8 Aug 21
Practice becomes more personal, focused, and motivating.
• Plan a daily practice goal, choose practice days, and optionally set a reminder.
• Balance work around difficult passages or unlock a piece step by step.
• Use separate adult and child profiles on one device; adults can support goals and receive optional completion updates.
• Enjoy more reliable microphone recognition plus a calmer practice screen, hand selector, and weekly overview.
• Choose between precisely waiting for the correct note and a fluent mode that follows your musical re-entry.
