A6000 connection
Larry mic g
At first I had an issue with connecting my phone to my Sony A6000.Since the last update had said it was a fix, I thought to try it out. It wasn’t connecting. I reached out to the company to let them know before writing a review or asking for a refund. Within the day, they had replied, offered a solution and then sent a follow up message just to be sure all was good to go.Great job guys, worth the $. 🙌
Too invasive
januaryane
It’s a good app, but now in order to upload your photos you have to grant them access to all of your IPhone photos. Which is too invasive for me to trust.
Developer Response
We understand your concern. As explained over email, this is the only way for Shutter to create a dedicated "Shutter" (or custom) photo albums. Alternative solutions have lots of other drawbacks - not having dedicated folders makes finding old photos really difficult (a lot of people import photos after their trip and they get mixed up with their regular camera roll), and storing them in Shutter only is prone to data loss. Please rest assured that Shutter does not read your photos but we'll continue searching for a better solution.
$35 a year to transfer pics to my phone?
HellooLisa
This app sucks. Feels very outdated and has extremely limited capabilities. If you would like to swap from photo transfers to controlling the camera with your phone you need to turn off your camera and scan the QR code again. You have to scan the QR code every time you use the app lol and it runs off the camera’s wifi rather than your local wifi so it also interferes with the functionality of your phone. Glad this was a free trial.
Developer Response
We're sorry you feel that way.Unfortunately, not being able to switch between remote control and photo imports without reconnecting is a hardware limitation of your camera. Newer Sony cameras (released after 2021) do not require this dance. As for the app running off the camera's Wi-Fi, this is required so you can use the app away from home. Almost all camera models connect this way; only very high-end cameras (for things like live sport events) will offer a hotspot mode (and sometimes even an Ethernet cable connection).
- Improved performance when downloading lots of photos
