Well worth it

I been using Upscayl since it's first release and I am extremeely pleased to see this application being developed for macOS and other operating systems. Upscayl has continued to improve on each release. It's fast and very reliable. In support to the developer this Lifetime payment is honestly beyond its worth. Typically I recieve low resolution jpeg logos and convert them to vector format. The super clean edges produced from the Digital Art setting are so clean one could print from it. And autotracing those results in Illustrator can turn a job around incredibly fast. Need to figure out what font was used, try cleaning those screen captures with Upscayl then see 'what the font' finds. My reco for users: Transparent PNGs should be flattened before using this app and add a bit of art board around a logo so its not cropped tightly. The new High Fidelity setting is fanastic.

Waste of money

If you're hoping for results similar to Magnific, safe your money, the output quality is nowhere near that. Upscayl does a decent job taking what's there and blowing it up, but it doesn't offer any of the enhancements that the pay for use models offer. It's just the original output, but bigger

If one would like to pay $40 a month for Magnific, they're of course free to do so. Upscayl is open source, costs $12.99 for lifetime updates, and is a real image upscaler. Magnific is not an AI Image Upscaler, it is what one may call 'AI image Re-imaginer'. An upscaler's job is to enhance the existing details, not replace them with something entirely different.If you were expecting an AI re-painter, I'm sorry to disappoint you but Upscayl does what it says.

I am so disappointed. I am working on interior/architecture photos and this tool competely changed the coloring and lighting on all of my images. I tried selecting different model outputs to see if the result would be different, but all drastically changed the images making this tool completely worthless for my needs.
