This app was created
to assist you in hiking on the preserves and park trails on Vinalhaven that are maintained by Vinalhaven Land Trust and its partners.
The VHtrails app assists you in getting directions to the trails as well as navigating on the trail. The trails are well maintained and marked but in case you get lost or find yourself in a distress situation, the app may serve as a helpful guide.
Once the app is installed, all necessary data is stored on your smartphone for offline use and there will be no need for internet or cell connection once you are in the field. No specific setting or configuration is required.
The Home Screen shows all trail systems that are available. Tap the image for more details. From the Details Screen you can either get driving directions to the trail or open the respective trails map.
The Trails Map shows the maintained trails with the main trails (or loop) highlighted. A tap on the location button will move the map center to your current location (on the trail).
A drawer menu at the Home Screen provides additional functions such as a link to Vinalhaven Land Trust News.

Besides regular robustness and security related updates,
the major change is the use of new geographic imagery from Mapbox and Open Street Maps, while version 1 used google maps.
One key benefit is automatic storage of an offline map for Vinalhaven.
You can now select your preferred maps application for driving directions.
The layout, flow, and usage of this version of VHtrails is the same as in version 1.
