Broken Sword: Reforged

Overcome creepy clowns and stubborn goats to crack an ancient mystery.

Life is good for American tourist George Stobbart...until an assassin’s bomb shatters the tranquility of a Parisian cafe. Before you know it, Broken Sword: Reforged has you exploring sunlit Spanish plazas and a spooky Scottish church to unravel a centuries-old conspiracy.

What we love: The slick features. Crisp, updated visuals and handy touchscreen controls enhance this puzzle-packed remake of the classic point-and-click adventure Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars. You can even toggle between the new look and the original graphics. It’s like traveling through time!

Atop a cliff in Syria or a train in Scotland, danger awaits.

Quick tip: The infamous goat puzzle that stumped so many players in the ’90s is deceptively simple—if you know what to do. Right after the goat knocks you down, quickly use the plow on the left side of the screen; George will rush over to drag the machinery onto the goat’s tether, pinning the horned menace in place.

Meet the creator: Broken Sword: Reforged comes from UK-based Revolution Software, the original developer of 1996’s The Shadow of the Templars. For Reforged, game director Charles Cecil fixed some continuity errors that had been bugging him for decades—like the blast damage from the cafe bomb being centred in the wrong spot.
