Superliminal

Reshape reality to escape a bizarre world inside your head.

Life is but a dream in the surreal puzzler Superliminal—and you can’t seem to wake up! Luckily, within your sleeping mind, you can bend the laws of physics and turn perception into reality. Make small objects gigantic, clone items at will, and do whatever else it takes to escape the mysterious dreamscape that imprisons you.

What we love: Harnessing the power of optical illusions. Can’t reach an elevated vent? Grab a nearby cheese wedge and repeatedly view it close-up till it grows large enough to use as a ramp. Trying to hold down a switch that opens a door? Look across the room at an enormous apple, then move the normal-size-from-your-perspective piece of fruit so it’s lying on the switch. You’re a magician!

View matching tarps from the right perspective to merge them into a makeshift step stool.

Quick tip: Exits are often found in surprising places. You may need to enlarge a photo of a doorway, then walk through it to enter a new area. Or poke at a giant die until a face falls off to reveal a chute you can drop down. Explore everywhere!

Meet the creator: Inspired by the surrealist works of artist René Magritte and the films Paprika, Inception, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the tiny team at Seattle-based indie studio Pillow Castle Games spent six years crafting Superliminal.
