You probably know Shazam. Maybe you’ve had it on your phone for ages. If not, it’s the clever app that helps you out when you hear a song and can’t for the life of you remember who sings it.

“Just Shazam it”, someone will no doubt have said to you. Yes, that’s right, Shazam is so popular that “to Shazam” something has become a verb meaning: “to tap the Shazam app and let it listen to the music playing.” It will scan the music and tell you the song and the artist. Wonderful.

Bet you didn’t know, though, that based on the songs you Shazam and on the genres of music you tell the app that you enjoy, it will create playlists for you.
