Ireland’s taxi driver check app is a new service from the National Transport Authority that allows taxi users to verify that the vehicle they are about to hire has been registered correctly and that the driver has the appropriate licence to operate the vehicle. Users can search by the car registration number, the vehicle taxi licence number, the driver licence number or by scanning appropriate QR codes. The current driver and vehicle information can be displayed to help ensure user’s safety. If information is incorrect, it’s possible to submit a report. There is also the facility to email a friend with trip details. Please be advised that personal user data may be compromised through the use of this application on a jail broken device. Coverage: Ireland’s licenced taxis, hackneys, limos and PSVs are covered by this app including rural locations as well as cities such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford. Please note, some drivers have yet to register with the checker so they will not appear until such time as they have.
