KrypterApp
Secure Enclave file encryption
Free
Post-quantum key sharing, metadata-free ciphertext, and keys that never leave your iPhone's Secure Enclave. Encrypt anything for anyone in seconds.
Your private conversations deserve better than "end-to-end encrypted (trust us)." Krypter puts real encryption in your hands: no middlemen, no servers, no fine print.
ENCRYPT ANYTHING
Photos, documents, voice memos, videos: encrypt any file with HPKE (RFC 9180) and send it any way you like. Only the person you choose can open it. Not us. Not Apple. Not anyone else.
ENCRYPTED MESSAGES
Write a message, encrypt it, and paste it into iMessage, WhatsApp, email, Signal, whatever. It stays unreadable wherever it travels, except to your recipient.
KEYS THAT NEVER LEAVE YOUR IPHONE
Every Krypter key is created inside your iPhone's Secure Enclave, the same chip behind Face ID and Apple Pay. The private key can't be exported, copied or read, not even by Krypter.
POST-QUANTUM KEY SHARING
Invite a contact with a link or QR code. Your public key travels back sealed with ML-KEM, the NIST post-quantum standard, so even a future quantum computer recording today's traffic learns nothing. Everyone sees keys only as SHA-256 fingerprints you can compare in person.
CIPHERTEXT THAT SAYS NOTHING
Every encrypted message and file starts with a header that looks like random bytes and is padded inside the encryption. Nobody can tell which algorithm was used, whether a password was added, or how big the original really is.
PROVE WHO SENT IT
Authenticated HPKE lets your recipient verify a message really came from you, not someone pretending to be you. No certificates. No authorities. Pure cryptography.
ADD A PASSWORD
Stack a shared password on top of the encryption, stretched with 5 million PBKDF2 rounds. Even with the right key, nobody reads it without the password.
NOTHING STORED IN THE CLEAR
Contacts, key names, dates, settings and the PIN are all sealed on your device with ML-KEM-1024 under the Secure Enclave, and behind your app PIN when it's on. A copy of the phone's storage reveals nothing.
TRULY PRIVATE
• No account required, ever. Not only not required: there is no way to create one
• No network connections: Krypter works fully offline
• No data leaves your device unless you share it
• No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry
• App PIN with a panic PIN, tied to the Secure Enclave and Face ID
• Decrypted text hidden from screenshots and screen recordings
• Copied text expires from the clipboard after 30 seconds and never syncs to other devices
• Privacy screen when you switch apps
• No ads, no paywalls
BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS
Export your contacts in a password-encrypted backup (PBKDF2, 120 million iterations) and restore them anytime. Your keys stay in the Secure Enclave, as they should.
STANDARDS-BASED
Built on RFC 9180 HPKE, NIST P-256, AES-256-GCM, ML-KEM-768 and ML-KEM-1024, all from Apple's CryptoKit. No proprietary algorithms. No homemade crypto.
Krypter is encryption the way it should be: yours.

3.0 is our biggest privacy update yet.
◆ Post-quantum key sharing
Invite a contact with a link or QR code. Your key travels back sealed with ML-KEM, so nobody ever sees your raw public key, only its fingerprint.
◆ Ciphertext that says nothing
Every message and file now starts with a header that looks like random bytes, and is padded inside the encryption. Nothing gives away the algorithm, whether a password was used, or the real size.
◆ One key type: Secure Enclave
Every key is created inside the chip and can't be copied or exported, not even by Krypter.
◆ Nothing stored in the clear
Every contact, key name, date, setting and the PIN itself is sealed on your device under the Secure Enclave with ML-KEM-1024, and behind your app PIN when it's on. A copy of the phone's storage reveals nothing.
◆ Private by default
Decrypted text is hidden from screenshots and screen recordings. Quick Open now starts off.
◆ Stronger passwords and PIN
Password messages take far longer to brute-force, and the app PIN's Secure Enclave key now also asks for Face ID or your passcode.
◆ Fresh look
Contacts and keys appear as fingerprints, the new-key screen explains what you're getting, and the QR code is restyled with a dark-mode theme.
Heads-up: a fresh start
• 3.0 starts clean. Keys, contacts, PIN and settings from earlier versions are deleted on first launch. Back up your contacts in your current version before updating, and restore them after.
• Messages and files encrypted with earlier versions can't be opened in this one.
• Create a new key and send fresh invites. Ask your contacts to update too: earlier versions can't read what this version sends.
