“This app is home to the best journalism in the world. If I could only afford to pay for one news source, The Economist would be that source.”
“Great app, excellent journalism! The Economist is wonderful. The content is interesting and relevant and the reporting is superlative. Equally impressive is the drive to stay relevant by presenting media in multiple formats, from print to podcasts and short videos.”
“Impeccable journalism with an app to match. The Economist doesn’t need my endorsement of the quality of their journalism. It speaks for itself. Rather, I’ll comment that their app is well-designed and refreshing to use…I love being able to easily download entire editions, listen to articles with real narrators and search for past articles.”

While The Economist App delivers excellent content, its performance on my iPhone 13 is disappointing. The app is often slow and laggy, even with downloaded editions. Additionally, the "Manage Privacy" screen appears monthly, disrupting the reading experience. I hope the developers address these issues for a smoother, more user-friendly experience.
Not Possible to Listen to Audio in Low Network Conditions

Sorry, although I love your articles, and I pay quite a sum for a yearly subscription……the app doesn’t get better 🤨1. I download my weekly edition on Thursdays onto my device.2. I try to listen during the week, often in low network conditions during commutes.3. Before and after each track, I have a loading spinner, canceling playback 7 out of 10 times, taking a minute or more each time.Do you check if I’m still a customer? Pls trust me for one week, and make your app fully offline capable. In a car, it’s impossible to listen to The Economist, in a bus it’s annoying, wasting half of my commute watching the loading spinner.
Hard to unsubscribe and still send emails
Kamirz
I used the Economist for a while under the trial period, when I decided to unsubscribe it seemed like I returned to the Stone Age:A) to unsubscribe you have to call or email them. There is no option to simply click unsubscribe as 99% of modern subscription services B) after you unsubscribe and explaining over the phone I am not interested in their content they kept pestering me with emails with offers and news I can read if I resubscribe. Even after I turned off all email notifications on their website.C) after they decided to call me to tell me about discounts I said no. D) after getting a few more emails I used the chat function to request for all my contact data to be deleted and not be contacted again. Again the stone ages return. To have them remove your data you need to fill in a form they send via email. Again many services where I had requested to have my data deleted a simple email to them was sufficient. E) now after 2 weeks of submitting form under point d, I am receiving emails again. The economist is now set to go directly to junk mail in my mailbox. Even if I ever had an inkling to subscribe again this pestering has steered me away.
Great Journalism, poor customer service

Anytime you want to change your subscription, you have to go through an arduous chat and give all your details every time. This is so 1990.
We've made general improvements and fixed bugs for a smoother experience.
