I’ve tried many apps to stay focused and build better habits — but Portal stands out. It’s not just about sound. It’s about environment. The quality of the soundscapes, the immersive visuals, and the way it all blends into your space (especially on Mac) is seriously next-level.It’s helped me stay in deep work longer, transition into recovery windows smoother, and even reflect more calmly at night. I also like combining some of the landscapes with my own Apple Music playlists — surprisingly effective for creative or focused sessions. What I appreciate most is the intentionality behind the app. You can tell the creators actually care about how it makes you feel — and how it fits into a healthier, more focused life.Highly recommend it if you’re trying to build discipline, sharpen your mind, or simply create better environments to thrive in.
👋 Hi SoMeBoDy.!,Every now and again we receive feedback like yours and it literally stops us in our tracks - WOW! It's clear that you don't just get it, your really get it.For us that's honestly what Portal's all about for us - it's not about the sound, it's not about the visuals, it's not about the smart lighting, nor the design, nor even the incredible locations that we get to visit, bottle-up, and share. It's about our environment. James Clear articulated it best when he said "our environment is the invisible hand that shapes human beahviour", but we think it's more than just our behaviour, it goes deeper. It's our mood, our capacity to think and contemplate, to be creative, to focus and be productive, to be joyous and happy. It shapes us, quietly, invisibly, and incredibly powerfully - almost without us even noticing. The crazy thing is we're now living in an age when the majority of our time is spent enclosed in artificial, functional indoor environments that isolate us, and are bereft of the beauty, joy, and magic of the natural world, its rhythm, its ebb and flow. Natural environments that we and our ancestors had evolved to find solace in and thrive in. Indeed, we see it as our job, our calling, our mission - whatever you want to call it - to help us reconnect with the wild and beautiful world beyond our four walls. We deeply believe that's where we truly belong, it's our home, in all senses of the word. It's where we feel at our best, where we can do our best, and be at our best - both physically and mentally. Fortunately technology has advanced to a point where we can now begin to transform people's environments and start to recreate that feeling of being in the great outdoors when it's not possible to be in the real thing. Ultimately, we hope it acts as a catalyst to encourage us all to get out and spend more time in nature! We're so thrilled that Portal's being having the desired effect and is making such a positive difference in your life - long may that continue! In fact, the crazy (and incredibly exciting) thing is we do genuinely feel as though we've only just scratched the surface of what's possible with Portal. There's such a huge amount of research (especially in the field of environmental psychology) into the positive effects digital experiences of nature can have on our thoughts, feelings and behaviours - as well as how they can help in our recovery from illness and ailments in clinical settings. And, what's more, technology continues to come on in leaps and bounds - and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down either! We are beyond excited at what the future holds (we've got some exciting plans in the works) and the positive impact Portal can make by bringing the magic of nature back into people's lives...so please stay tuned. In the meantime, thank you for your support, enthusiasm and just your willingness to encourage others to try Portal out - it really does means a lot to us,Stu, Alex, Andy, Nick & Tim - Team Portal.
