How this app can be rated so well is beyond me. After testing the app extensively, I can confirm that it is not fit for purpose. It is unstable, frequently crashes, and contains numerous bugs and inconsistencies that make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to use. For example:– When attempting to delete a folder, a confirmation dialog appears as expected, and the selected folder is deleted. However, a second confirmation dialog then appears unexpectedly and if confirmed, the app proceeds to delete a completely unrelated folder, including all its categories and transactions.– Copying a transaction to prefill a new one results in the app copying the wrong transaction, specifically the one below the one selected.– Depending on how you get to the folders and categories screen, some folders, if not all, may not appear, making basic tasks like adding categories impossible.– Some buttons vanish from the interface, and all number input fields are unselectable, which, ironically, appears to be intentional, despite this being an app meant for handling numbers.– The app crashes frequently, further compounding these issues. These problems already show that the app’s user interface is fundamentally unreliable. You can’t trust that what you see or click will behave as expected, which makes the app completely unusable, especially for managing financial data. There is also no way to name or label a transaction, which is arguably the most basic feature one would expect in any financial app. Without the ability to assign a name or description, it becomes nearly impossible to track expenses meaningfully.Additionally, the currency conversion feature is poorly implemented and essentially unusable. Exchange rates must be entered manually for every transaction, and there is no coherent way to manage or update them, which defeats the purpose of having multi-currency support in the first place.I made the purchase in good faith based on the App Store presentation, but the product clearly does not reflect what was advertised. I believe I was misled by exaggerated claims and misleading promotional content and I deeply regret having spent so much on what ultimately feels like a complete rip-off.
Hi Nolan, thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve experienced and that the app did not meet your expectations.I have thoroughly tested the issues you mentioned across multiple iPhones, iPads, and (mutliple) Macs, but so far haven’t been able to reproduce them. My crash reports from both the App Store and Firebase also only show a crash rate of around 0.1%, which is very low — however, I take every report seriously and am committed to resolving any bugs as quickly as possible. The problems you described, such as unexpected folder deletions, incorrect transaction copying, missing buttons, unselectable number fields, and issues with currency conversion and transaction naming, are important concerns that I would like to investigate further. Therefore it would be incredibly helpful if you could send me an email at mail@budget-flow.app with any screen recordings, detailed reproduction steps, or additional information about the bugs and crashes you encountered. This will allow me to better understand and address these issues.Thank you for your patience, and I hope to improve the app experience for you soon.Best regards,FabianUpdate:Thanks again for your email and the video you provided. Based on your feedback, I’ve addressed the following in the latest version:- Fixed the issue where the cancel button disappeared from the Budget Book selection screen.- Enabled copying of transaction amounts on macOS via keyboard shortcut (CMD+C).- Although I couldn’t exactly reproduce the problems with categories being deleted or wrong transactions copied, I improved the logic internally to increase stability and prevent these issues. These fixes and improvements are now available in the latest version (2.2.11) on the App Store.
