Description

This is the best app to track your climbing and boulder sessions automatically. Redpoint gives you detailed overview and feedback on your ascents.

Use your Apple Watch or iPhone as a fitness tracker for bouldering and climbing. Contribute your climbing session to closing your daily rings! Workouts are stored in HealthKit and therefore visible in the Health app and Workouts app as well.

After each session you will see detailed information about your climbs: the overall height, your heart rate, duration, maximum ascent height, ascending speed, difficulty of routes, and most importantly: Redpoint will give you personalized training suggestions based on that data. How to go from V4 to V5? Or from 5.11b to 5.11c? Redpoint creates a training plan just for you to achieve your next climbing goals.

So, how does that work?
Thanks to highly advanced machine learning we are able to classify climbing movements right on Apple Watch. In addition to that we use the built-in barometer to measure the ascended altitude. You can track the difficulty of ascended routes right from the Apple Watch.

Works For:
- Bouldering
- Top Rope
- Sport Climbing
- Trad Climbing
- Multi Rope (Alpine)
- Free Solo
- Aid Climbing
- Via Ferrata

What’s New

Version 3.7.3

This update adds a workaround for altitude tracking if you have iOS 17.4 or watchOS 10.4 or newer installed:

Unfortunately, Apple introduced a bug with the latest updates which prevents barometric data from being delivered to the device.
Instead of waiting for them to fix this, we have introduced a workaround:

You now have to grant permission to Motion & Fitness data when you start a new workout.
This is only necessary once, and afterwards you should be able to use Redpoint as usual.

I am very sorry for this unexpected behavior!

On top of that, this update fixes an issue where logging into a TheCrag account could lead to a crash when opening settings.

🤔

Not sure about this one. I guess it only works with the Apple Watch 3 (which should be mentioned somewhere in my opinion). I tried it today when lead climbing and it counted my one ascent as seven ascents. Then again, I have an Apple Watch 2 and it seems to be made for bouldering not lead. But can the altimeter really be that precise? I have my doubts.

Developer Response ,

Hey thanks a lot for your feedback! You are right, Apple Watch Series 2 does not include the altimeter. In this case, I try to make use of the Accelerometer and Gyroscope. But, this data is far more complex to analyze and less accurate in the end.
There will be a big update soon that improves accuracy on Apple Watch Series 3 even further (I wrote my own algorithm for relative altitudes changes using the barometer. It as an accuracy of 30cm now.).
Please feel free to send me an email (info@frogg.io) if you have any more feedback, questions, or ideas how to improve my app!

strava

the connection to strava is pointless, because it doesn‘t submit any ascends.
also it submits the workout before you can set the tick type.
and why is it impossible to set the tick type while climbing.
it‘s annoying to remember all the tick types and edit it into the sessionlog afterwards.

Developer Response ,

Hey Minusch87!

Thanks a lot for your feedback, this is really good to know for me. Am I right that you're tracking with an iPhone? We'll be bringing the features over from the watch with the next big update (3.1) for tick type logging. We're also working on advanced Strava uploads right now, and actually with update 3.0 we've added a major component of the already.
Please feel free to get in touch via email and I'm happy to share some screenshots with you to see what you think :)

My email is info@frogg.io
