- You can sort your library now. Open Collections and pick Sort By: title, author, series, recently read, or your own order - Collections has new Series and Authors sections. Tap one to see just those books, and a series comes in reading order - Books from calibre show their series and tags even if you added them from Files or iCloud - In a PDF, Ask the Owl from a highlight now asks about the words you highlighted - Adding a book you already have from Files doesn't make a second copy anymore - A few small fixes and wording tweaks

- Fixed the Listen sheet. It showed a tick for every language, which was confusing, so there's one tick for the voice reading your book - Other languages are behind a More Languages button, so the sheet isn't so tall. Pick a French or Italian voice and it tells you which books it reads - PDFs on iPad fill the whole screen, and zooming in goes all the way to the edges instead of staying in a box - PDFs have a new page button to pick how pages turn, and on iPad one page or two side by side. The bookmark moved under the X, like in books - Listen on PDFs is better at skipping chart and table labels - The chapter name at the top of the page shows up in more books

Hey everyone! 3.4 brings Zotero and two new languages for Listen. - Zotero: connect your Zotero library in Add Books and read your papers in Athene. Your highlights and notes go back to Zotero, and Cite gives you the reference - Listen reads French and Italian books now, with three new natural voices: Siwis, Sara and Nicola. If you've downloaded Apple's Audrey, Federica or Emma, they're in the list too - On an iPad held sideways, each page has its own page number - PDFs on iPads with iOS 26 held sideways show one page at a time again, so no page gets skipped

- Fixed a bug where opening Aa could move you to a different page. Books use the whole screen again, with no gap at the bottom - Pages documents bring in pictures they used to drop: pictures grouped with a caption, text boxes, and TIFF, HEIC and PDF images. A big picture in the middle of a paragraph no longer breaks up the page

- Adding your whole calibre library from iCloud Drive works now. It used to get stuck on "Looking for books…" while iCloud downloaded everything first. Now it counts the books as it finds them, and you can stop it. - Tap the speed on the player to pick any speed, like 1.35× - Pages documents keep their pictures at the right size, and their cover - Turn pages with the arrow keys or a trackpad - Export a book as a file from its menu - Lots of small fixes: text under PDF highlights is easier to read, big numbers get their commas, and things don't get cut off at the biggest text sizes

Calibre folks asked, so: - You can add a whole folder from Files now, like your calibre library in iCloud Drive or Dropbox. Athene grabs every book in it with calibre's titles, covers and tags - Your calibre tags show up in Collections, so you can browse your shelf by tag - Athene finds your "read" column even if it's called Finished, Done, Have read etc - The calibre setup guide now covers the Read column and running calibre-server on a NAS Also: - Press and hold a book and tap About This Book to see what it's about, its series and its tags - The book you're reading gets a little bookmark on the shelf and a "Continue reading" line under Library (you can turn the line off in Settings) - Send to KOReader only shows up if you use KOReader sync - Some EPUBs wouldn't open and said something about a zip archive. Clearer calibre setup. The guide now reminds you to click Allow the first time your Mac or PC asks whether calibre can accept connections (if it was dismissed, your iPhone or iPad couldn't reach calibre), and shows where Calibre lives now: Library › + › Calibre.

Athene 3.2.2 makes the Notebook at home on iPad. A book's notes now read like a page: a comfortable column, front of the book to back, under the book's own chapter names. Turn your iPad on its side and the book sits beside them, with the parts that hold your notes one tap away. Reflections, notes and highlights each have their filter, and a drawing sits in a card its own size. Also: • On iPad, panels open and close more gently, and changing the text size fades smoothly instead of jumping. • A roomier Aa panel on iPad, and the book's cover in Contents no longer crowds the corner. • KOReader setup, rewritten step by step for Kobo, Kindle and Boox. • "Continue where you left off" from KOReader now waits for you instead of disappearing. • Captions under illustrations no longer get cut off.

Athene 3.2 gives your notes a home, reads your PDFs aloud, and keeps your e-reader in step. All of it is free. THE NOTEBOOK A new tab for every highlight, note and drawing from every book, with filters and search. Tap a note to open its page. On iPad it spreads into two columns. Touch and hold a note to export it on its own, as text or as a PDF that keeps your drawings; a book's whole set exports from its page, and a PDF book can go out as itself, with your highlights, notes and drawings on its pages. REFLECTIONS Write what stayed with you, after a chapter, a reading session or a whole book: in the Notebook, or in the Notebook tab while you read. Typed or drawn, your reflections stay in the Notebook even when a book leaves your shelf. LISTEN TO PDFS Listen now reads PDFs. It skips running heads, page numbers and footnotes, joins words split across pages, reads scanned pages, and describes pictures and tables as it reaches them: from the PDF's own descriptions, or on iOS 27 by Apple Intelligence, on your device. KOREADER Keep KOReader on your Kobo or other e-reader in step with Athene: your books, your place, your highlights, notes and bookmarks, through a sync server of your own. Settings › Sync › KOReader shows you how, step by step. CALIBRE, BOTH WAYS Highlights you make in calibre's own reader now come into Athene, and from there to KOReader and your other devices. Your calibre library opens from + in your Library, and remembers where you were in it. TRANSLATE Select a passage and translate it, with Apple's translation. YOUR CALIBRE LIBRARY The calibre tab now opens on what's new on your server, the next book in a series you've finished, and more by the author you're reading, with Authors, Series, Tags and Formats a tap away. When calibre has no description for one, the Owl reads its first few pages and tells you how it begins. Athene now reaches your server over Tailscale. READING Turn on Settings › Reading › Show Reading Progress for a fine line at the foot of the page, with how much of the book you've read beside it. PDFs now pinch to zoom and turn with a swipe, so a stray tap no longer flips the page. Style/Layout panel re-organized ON IPAD The tabs move to the top of the screen, calibre lists use the width in two columns, and Contents, Aa and the Owl open right beside their buttons.
