Pocket Casts is getting ready for the iPhone Duo! We’ve been working on making better use of larger screens, with improvements for iPad users too. Discover now shows multiple columns of podcasts, while the full-screen player gets a new side-by-side layout on supported devices. We’ve also improved CarPlay playback, fixed an issue that could clear your Apple Watch’s Up Next queue, and made sure skipped chapters no longer count towards your remaining listening time. We’ve folded in plenty of other little fixes too. And before you get snappy about all these puns, just know we’re only getting warmed up!

The new What’s New feed in the Profile tab brings announcements from the Pocket Casts team straight into the app, so you can be the first to know about new stuff. Watching video is easier too. A new button over the video zooms it into the full screen player, rotating to landscape on iPhone when the video calls for it, and a matching button brings you back. Bug fixes in this release: smoother downloads, better storage cleanup, lower memory use, and a round of accessibility and layout polish.

Podcast networks have arrived. There’s a new Networks section in the Discover tab for finding networks, and tapping the author on a podcast’s page takes you to the network behind it, so you can find more shows from people you already enjoy. Search includes networks now too. We also did quite a bit of tidying up. Turning off New Episode notifications now actually turns them off (revolutionary, we know). The video player got some love, with larger controls and a Chromecast button that no longer hides in full screen. And if playback fails because your phone is out of storage, we now say so instead of blaming your internet.

This one's a spring clean-up – or an autumn tidy-up, depending on your hemisphere. You can now find us on Bluesky, with a link on the About screen right alongside our other socials. Bug fixes in this release: - Listening History search no longer says “No episodes found” before it’s done looking, and your results now show up without you having to retype the search - Setting a sleep timer with Siri or Shortcuts now works while your device is locked - The Download button in Search and Discover episode results works again - Fixed a rare crash when starting episode downloads - Creating a Smart Playlist no longer freezes and closes the app - Fixed a rare crash when What’s New popped up while another screen was closing Thanks for listening with Pocket Casts!

Smart Bookmarks are here to make it easier to save and return to important moments in your favourite episodes. Now, when you add a bookmark to an episode with a transcript, Pocket Casts will save the relevant passage and suggest a short title. You can edit the passage, enter your own title, or use the suggestion. Your Sleep Timer now has a Live Activity too, so you can check how much listening time is left from your Lock Screen or Dynamic Island without opening Pocket Casts. Bookmarks are also easier to manage, with new swipe actions that let you quickly share or delete them. We’ve also made some under-the-hood changes to make starting playback more reliable. Give Smart Bookmarks a try and let us know what you think.

Bug fixes in this release: - Bookmarks multi-select is tidier, with correct spacing and layout on the latest iOS. - Up Next's navigation bar is consistent everywhere, with a new "…" menu for clearing your queue. - Fixed some podcasts failing to play due to unrecognized HLS formats. Plus a handful of smaller fixes.

This one’s all about smoother listening. HLS streaming playback is here, bringing more reliable streaming to shows that use it, and with new support for Flightcast JSON transcripts, transcripts now show up for more episodes. Episode details load show notes and artwork faster, and pausing on your phone now syncs playback progress to your Apple Watch instantly, instead of whenever the two felt like catching up. We also fixed the mini player showing up empty after opening the app from a notification, and the New Episodes notification setting getting reset when you updated the app – plus a stack of smaller thing

Tired of your Up Next queue living by its own rules? Now you can sort it exactly how you like it. Starred episodes now show a little star badge right on their Up Next cell, so you always know what’s a keeper. Episode artwork now shows up right on the episode details page, giving you something nice to look at! The mini player got some love too: it now shows off your podcast’s tint color properly, its play button has a satisfying springy bounce, and its title scales nicely with your text size settings. Thanks for listening with Pocket Casts!

Summer’s in full swing, and Pocket Casts 8.15 is here to soundtrack it. The mini player got bigger controls (your thumbs asked nicely), and the bottom of the podcast grid eases into a blur, so nothing gets lost or hard to read where the grid meets the player. New in this release: - Folders got context menus - A new Siri shortcut to mark the current episode as played - Chapter artwork now on the lock screen, Control Center, and CarPlay A few gremlins we escorted out: - The Share swipe action now dismisses automatically - Fix the Filters search header popping back when few episodes match - Fix incorrect section heading when opening an episode on the Apple Watch - Fix “Download All” on a season not warning before using cellular data - The Playlists tab uses consistent background in dark mode We also waved off iOS 16 and watchOS 9. Thanks for the memories.

Transcripts just got a karaoke mode upgrade. New episodes now highlight words as they’re spoken, making it easier to follow along, search, tap, and jump straight to the good bits. No singing required. Stats got a glow-up: a new listening activity heatmap lets you see exactly when you’ve been tuning in. Discover and Search now show explicit content badges, so you always know what you’re getting into before you hit play. Menus across the app have been updated to use sheet presentation for a smoother, more consistent feel. Adding episodes to Up Next is snappier than ever: animations are fixed and you’ll now get visual feedback even when the tab bar is collapsed.

Pour yourself something refreshing – 8.13 is serving Liquid Glass. The big one: Pocket Casts now supports Liquid Glass, so the app shimmers, refracts, and generally looks like it spent the whole spring at the spa. Everything feels lighter, glassier, and a little more magical. While we were polishing the glass, we also: Added context menus for Podcasts – long-press your way to greatness Brought chapter art to the mini player so you always know what you’re looking at Gave “Up Next” episode titles room to breathe with up to two lines Let Widget podcast art get tinted to match your vibe Hid the tab bar during multi-select for more elbow room Plus a fistful of fixes: diagonal swipes now dismiss the player, the interactive dismiss gesture plays nicely with scrolling, the “Show Archived” toggle behaves during search, and the full player stopped flashing that generic placeholder when real artwork was right there. Look through the Liquid Glass. Trust us – it’s clear.

The mini player now animates when skipping back or forward. The search bar now collapses more gracefully, and pull-to-refresh is reliable and polished across the board. Smart Playlist rules are faster to edit, and we’ve fixed episodes shuffling around mid-swipe. CarPlay users: your progress bar is back on track.

We fixed smart rules spacing, smoothed out a few rough edges in playlists, and updated the “Now Playing” screen to show the podcast title instead of the author.

We fixed that odd sound your Apple Watch made when hitting play. Now it's all signal, no noise. We've improved how we detect when transcripts are available, so you'll know for sure whether it's ready.

Ever had an episode not play and wondered what was going on? We have tried to make that a lot clearer. Whether it’s your connection or the episode has been removed, you will now get a better explanation so you’re not left guessing. We’ve also fixed some issues with larger text sizes where things didn’t quite look right. Things should look and behave properly now. And we’ve improved the download manager to avoid a race condition. Unfortunately, no F1 cars were involved.

Now when your favourite podcast episode is buffering on the full screen player, you’ll see a progress indicator so you know what’s happening. We’ve also been investigating storage issues. This update makes sure temporary download files are properly cleaned up so they don’t take up extra space. Thanks for sticking with Pocket Casts over the years. We still love building it and can’t wait to keep making it better.

Want to add an episode to a playlist? You can now do it right from the episode details, no extra taps needed. Podcast search now plays nicely with all locales and regions. Now Playing info properly updates when you connect a Bluetooth device. Episode artwork shows the right image, even when the audio file and feed disagree. No more surprise logouts during background refreshes on a locked device.

We’ve rolled out Dynamic Type throughout the app, making every screen more comfortable to read at any text size! New options in multi-select and episode details make adding episodes to playlists easier than ever. Playlist counts and artwork updates now happen immediately and reflect your latest Playlist updates.

Bulk delete, actually bulk deletes now. Selecting multiple episode files for removal works the way it should — all selected, all gone, no exceptions. Shared some your favorites podcasts links? We squashed a bug that was tripping up URL handling, so tapping a link in your messages takes you right where you need to go.

We’ve smoothed things out to make listening feel more effortless! Show Notes now remember where you left off, AirPlay gives you better multi-speaker control, shared Clips play back seamlessly, Up Next syncs more smoothly between Apple Watch and iPhone, and the app won’t surprise you by autoplaying – plus, the Radioactive theme has officially retired. Removing Radioactive lets us simplify the app and focus on features you actually use.

We’re warming up your listening game this winter. Long-press to quickly deselect episodes when you’ve tapped one too many. Adding episodes to playlists is faster than ever. Playing via home screen widgets and reordering episodes in Up Next both work more reliably. Episodes will no longer cut out early—they’ll play all the way to the frosty end.

Happy New Year! We are starting the year with a round of performance improvements. We noticed that sometimes our playlists were a moving a bit slow, so we gave them some boost so that you can zip around them as fast as you can. We are back and refreshed after the end of year break, and we hope you are too. We are really looking forward to another year of making Pocket Casts even better!
