See who's in town, or traveling somewhere new. Schedule city-level updates from your calendar, or share when you arrive. Get notifications about the latest travels of your groups and contacts, send emoji reactions, and know how to reach them with the contact information on their profile. Treetop is your view from afar. The app never monitors GPS and does not track your precise real-time location. It detects travel (via airplane, car, train, and more) using your phone’s motion-sensing capabilities, without knowing your exact whereabouts. After arriving, the app notifies you to share an update using customizable text and emoji, but you can also schedule these updates in advance. Most importantly, communications are protected using end-to-end encryption, ensuring that no one else (not even Treetop) can see the location updates you share with others. You own your data. ■ SAY WHERE YOU'LL BE Quickly and privately update your location for all or select groups and contacts, sharing only the city, country, state/province, or local district you’re in. Treetop uses customizable text to share or schedule updates based on your broader geographical whereabouts, instead of revealing your exact position. You control who receives your updates and exactly what is shared. ■ SEE WHO IS (ARRIVING) WHERE Treetop clusters the shared and scheduled departures and arrivals of your groups and contacts into a browsable list and map, automatically organizing those in the same areas alongside who will be there next. You receive notifications about who goes where, returns home, and more—with options to customize whom and what you are notified about. ■ TRAVEL DETECTION WITHOUT GPS Using built-in sensors in your device to recognize movement, Treetop notifies you to share updates after significant travel—whether by car, train, airplane, or other supported modes of transport. To maximize privacy and save battery life, Treetop does not monitor GPS or Location Services. All travel detection happens privately and locally on your device using motion, and without requiring internet or satellite connectivity. ■ PROTECTS YOUR INFORMATION Communications between users are end-to-end encrypted, so only you and the people you share with (and nobody else in between, not even Treetop) can view your location updates. The platform is designed to keep data in your control (and safe from being collected or sold) by storing it locally on your device only, while optionally making encrypted backups to your iCloud account by default. Treetop’s network and platform keep you connected with others securely and give you a username… that’s it. ■ REDUCES STRESS Motion and travel create new opportunities to see others again, but keeping in touch about who is where (and when) can require a lot of effort without Treetop. The app lightens these interactions through simplified communications—reducing the friction required to surface moments to connect in real-life, and helping ensure that you do not miss them. ■ SUPPORTS ADVENTURE Welcome others from near and far. Discover new communities around the world by connecting (and in the future: reconnecting) with others on Treetop. See what adventure awaits, both where you are and wherever you go. ____ To support wellness through movement and connection with others at ever-changing distances, with your permission, the app integrates with your Health data—specifically walking steps and footing-related metrics, which are collected by your phone automatically and viewable in the Health app on iOS. This enables the app to provide interactions and a deeper view of activity surrounding how you have transited based on your movement. This data cannot be modified by the app, is encrypted, and is always securely processed locally on-device (only) without being shared or transmitted. (It is not sent to the internet by the app, ever. Not even to Treetop.)
