ARC FLASH — KNOW YOUR RISK BEFORE YOU WORK
Scan any arc flash label with your camera and enter your actual working distance. FieldVolt calculates the incident energy at your position using the inverse square law and tells you exactly what PPE is required — not just at the label distance, but where you will actually be standing. PPE requirements follow NFPA 70E Table 130.5(G) for NEC and CSA Z462 for CEC. A reference table shows how energy and PPE requirements change at common distances so you can make informed decisions on the spot. Above 40 cal/cm² a red danger warning appears — energized work must not be performed.
INSTALLATION
Box Fill — conductor volume per NEC 314.16 / CEC Rule 12-3034. All standard box types, overfill warnings.
Conduit Fill — fill percentage for EMT, IMC, RMC, and PVC. THHN, RW90XLPE, and TWU conductor types with correct NEC and CEC wire areas.
Pipe Bending — stub-up, offset, saddle, and parallel 90° calculations. Auto-selects bend angle based on obstacle height and available run.
POWER
Ampacity — conductor ampacity with temperature correction and conduit fill derating per NEC Table 310.15(C)(1) / CEC Table 5C.
Voltage Drop — single and three-phase calculations per NEC / CEC. Shows 3% and 5% thresholds with colour coding.
Grounding — EGC sizing per NEC 250.122 / CEC Table 16 and GEC sizing per NEC 250.66 / CEC Table 43.
Ohm's Law — solve for any two of V, I, R, P. Single and three-phase with power factor.
SERVICE & EQUIPMENT
Load Calc — residential service calculations per NEC Article 220 / CEC Rule 8-200. Handles multiple heating systems, EV chargers, ranges, and AC with correct demand factors. Includes generator sizing mode.
Transformer — primary and secondary current, OCPD sizing, and minimum conductor ampacity. Winding configuration drives correct NEC 450.3(B) / CEC Rule 26-254 protection rules.
Motor — full load current from NEC Table 430.248/430.250 / CEC Table 44. Branch circuit conductor, OCPD, overload, and disconnect sizing per NEC Article 430 / CEC Section 28.
SAFETY
Arc Flash — camera label scanner, incident energy at six distances, PPE requirements per NFPA 70E / CSA Z462.
GFCI / AFCI — location-based lookup for residential and commercial. NEC 210.8 / CEC Rule 26-704 with plain-language explanations.
